I love the looks of the Icon Skull but you see them everywhere. Also, I have a mainframe halo and I am not very happy with the fit of it because it is rather bulky feeling. Then again I didn't pay for it so I don't really care. I plan on getting a Shoei soon....

i would never trust my head in an icon helmet. go look at the scorpion exo-700 it is great for the price and i like it almost as much as my shoei

I have watched a HJC save a life so I came across one that was last years model and picked it up so.... and I had a ICON alliance and I didn't like it cuz the pads didn't come out to wash it and I wore it everyday last summer eww..... ohh ya if anyone ever needs to borrow a helmet I still have my icon lol hahahahahahahahahaha

id prefer to have a Shoei, but they are a lot more expensive than the others

Scorpians are actually quite nice imo, protected my head twice now same helmet. But if I'm buying a new one I'm going to splurg on a shoei or arai

check out the new KBC's, they have this new liner in them and they feel 1000 times better then any helmet out there.

I'd rather have an Arai. It saved my head last sunday!

I had a mainframe and ripped the vents off of the helmet when i looked backwards. Im borowing my friend mainframe skull helmet till i get a chance to order the Hjc I want. Hjc has been around forever and make good helmets.

well what's the budget???
Personally I did pay $600 for a helmet once and it gave me migranes so I took it back 3 days later got a $250 helmet and it was the best I've ever worn. It's all personal fit and opinion and head shape.

i was able to get mine for $300 but it took some time to get the deal done. I was at the store like 3 days in a row and i found mine on clearance (previous years paint scheme) it was marked at $450 but i went in on 4th of July just before they closed and convinced the guy to have a "last minute sale."
look around on ebay and stuff sometimes you find great deals. otherwise under $300 the Scorpion is the highest quality and most comfortable that i tried on

Lid is about protection of the brain. So, if cost is a factor, then go for safety. What is comfortable for one isn't comfortable for others. You could always get a custom paint job for the helmet late when funds are available.

you have to be very careful with that as some paints will actually damage the shell and reduce effectiveness

I have a KBC that is super comfortable but it's loud as fuck. I have a Shoei that is really quiet but the chin strap digs into my damn jaw. I'd have to say that when I get a new helmet it will be a Shoei or one of the higher end helmets though.

just so you guys know, i ended up getting a scorpion exo-700.
not all helmets are created equal. some shitty ones can cause more damage than others. there was a test done by a bike magazine showing that DOT only helmets cushion the head better than DOT and SNELL helmets...
