Well iwant to go on a long ride..... hit somw twists etc.... one prob. i have Alaska plates that expired at the end of May. Now i am too broke to pay for tags and have been for the past 2 months. Although i commute everyday to and from work 30 mins on the bike, with the same tags. Should i test the waters and take the ride or not. Also would it be better or worse to go in a large group/small group? Just lookin for opinions. I still have my AKDL as well, just don't care to change it, i still havemy ASU id so i will just say i am a student.

i'd change it and do so soon. AZ is cracking down HARD on the people who are too lazy to change their DL and tags. it's not that big a deal, just man up and do it.

larger group = better. Its a hit/miss situation. I rode around on an expired temp plate for a month. It ripped off and the one behind it expired in march... so the plate read 03-29-06 and i took a sharpie and made it 08-29-06. I only did this because i was waiting on my title as there was a discrepency with getting the lean released and getting the title to me. Although it is only like a $30 ticket here in Michigan.

Yea AZ is giving you 3 months grace on your ID and then $500 fine and I don't know what t is for the tags.... I almost found this out the hard way when I still had my MI ID and tags after almost 2 years.... The AZ ID was like $32 for me with cycle indorsment and I don't remember what the plates were, so I agree just man up....

You remember that long ago
Sorry had to do it Lea.
Anyway i would change the tags and fast especially if you have an out of state liscense. I would say changing everything over is way cheaper than if you get the ticket becuase if you get a ticket you have to pay the fine and for new tags.

yea i have michigan tags too, but im a student so i dont have to switch them. But i did get a Arizona license anyways with endorsement. Then this summer i got a new michigan ID that they put the endorsement on. So i have both a Arizona and Michigan license with the endorsement. Helps for buying alcohol because I hate using a license from another state, they always think its fake.

Actually the hole student thing really isn't working anymore.... If your gonna be in the area for over 6 months, even for school cops are being dicks about it.... Just sayin, I've been hearing a lot about it in the news down here over the last 6 months or so....

I have called DOT as long as you are enrolled as a full time student you can legally have out of state plates and ID without switching as long as you are not trying to claim residency for AZ. Basically if you are a full time student, have an address and claim taxes in another state you are all set.
If they ticket you it will be cleared
