I'm studying a video on suspension, and was checking out my tires. I noticed that my front tire is so much more chewed than when I ride on the other two tracks. I'm thinking that if I was a faster rider I would have lowsided somewhere on the track during that day, and I'm doing something wrong on that track.
Did anyone else have the same result? Ever? Does anyone else know what area this is happening in? I'm guessing it's somewhere during the fast switchback after turn 6. I wasn't checking my tire during the day. Just didn't think about it, but before going into the loop to go onto the straight I was really scrubbing speed during my lean.

so.. no one has replied to this..

i'm gonna give it my best shot. First I want to say, I honestly don't know to much about stuff like this..

First thing that comes to my mind is texture of the pavement. Maybe "main" has a different texture/consistancy than "west" or "east" tracks.

Second thing is your comfort level. Are you more comfortable riding "main"? If you are, maybe you're pushing harding into turns.. maybe holding a lower lean angle or maybe just going faster.

something to think about .

Is its both sides of the tire that are getting torn up or just one side? Did you check your tire pressure that day? Were you running more or less PSI than you did when you ran the other 2 tracks?

Did you change anything in the suspension setup on the bike?

There are so many factors that could cause your tire to wear more that many have nothing to do with the track. Start there see if you made any changes to the bike or the tires first then look at the track. weather may even be a factor if the track temp is very hot or cold its going to change how fast the tire is being used as well.

I had a bunch of links for tire wear and suspension setup I will have to see if I can find for you

I didn't change anything on my setup. I don't know enough yet to feel comfortable making changes. I've made a couple changes to the front, but have recently learned that my setup is what makes me so uncomfortable going into corners and my entry speed so slow.
I had never ridden Main either. Last summer it was very hot on East, and I couldn't keep near the pace I do now, so my tire wouldn't have been as chewed. I was digging in on Main, and took a couple of corners really hot. I never had any odd feeling on the front end, but I really didn't think I was so harsh on the corner of the tires.
The left IS more chewed, but the right is pretty bad also. With the right, taking turn 4 was rough, and I wasn't surprised. My puck was skipping on the ground, and I knew the concrete was rough there. The rest seemed pretty smooth.
I'm going to assume that it was a combination of heat, crappy pavement and overstepping my limits without paying the price. Thanks for giving me info to think it through.
I'm re-reading the TOTW books now, but when I get back to suspension I'll post up what I'm learning so I can get more input from the more advanced riders. Thanks again.

.this is probably the reason, east and west are real tracks with plenty of rubber already laid in the corners whereas main is basicly a parking lot with cones.I hate main, lol
