Hmm I dunno, it appears that way but I seem to remember it being a whole shot. I forget the pole but Rossi started second and passed Pedrosa on the first lap and held that position for the rest of the day.

And wtf is up with Hayden/his bike.:umm

yep Rossi lost the hole shot but passed for first on the first lap. As for Hayden on the Repsoil... something seems to be wrong, I agree

Is Hayden still trying to get out of his Honda contract?

heres a good response i got off R6MN regarding hayden

Hayden "says" he is having front end feel problems, hurting him in sweeping type corners. Do I believe him? Well, I am not riding the bike - I suppose it's all down to the perspective that you come from. Hayden fans will believe him, hayden haters will not.

During the race today, the announcers commented that not only hayden but checa also (probably the closest of the honda riders to hayden's size) complained of front end feel problems, thinking that the forward bias of a heavier riders weight was causing the problem. They explained more specifically, feel at mid corner isn't the problem, its the initiation of the turn. Now that may be the case and if it is, it is something that should be able to be worked out as time goes on and more data is obtained. I don't think that honda will change anything at their level as long as dani is obtaining results. The solution will be up to nicky and his crew - probably as it should be.

Truly, I think there may be something to what nicky is reporting but it is probably not the whole story. He has also said himself that he needs to ride the bike better. When hayden first came to GP, it was obvious his speed in corners was much slower. He improved, to the point where last year he was acclimated and could ride at the same level to fight for wins and podiums. I think that deficiency (old superbike, US style track point and shoot) has reared its head again, due to the higher corner speed required on the 800s vs. the 990s.
Time will tell, say by round five or six, if either bike or haydens riding style can be corrected this year. His finish today actually was not that bad considering the times he ran all weekend.
So we shall see. I think he will get it figured out, it's a long year with a lot of drama left to play out yet.

Honestly there is another aspect to look at. The 800 is a completely different bike then he was riding last year and that is a known fact. With less HP is has been said that it favors the 125 and 250 riders better because it requires more accuracy and precision. Hayden came into MotoGP and it was obvious that his corner speed was slower (see above quote) so honestly he just needs to adjust and get his precision down. Should be interesting so see how he finishes at the end of the season.

I'm a MotoGP newb, but I enjoyed watching Hayden in the final race last year. Shame to see him struggle as he has been so far this year.. but man, is Rossi ever fun to watch. I've become a fan.

Yea that was a great race for the Yammies, So happy to see colin back on the podium!!! Now i just hope he stays there, and it rains at the next 6 races so Pedrobot doesnt do so well..... And it is a shame that Hayden can't ride the smaller bike as well, but that's where the sport went and he is the champ so there can't be any excuses.... I will always pull for him though

I believe Nicky is having issues with new frame, although he spent last year developing some next generation parts for this years model. Also their seems to be a bias towards Pedrosa in the Respol Team. With Alberto Puig as Pedrosa's personnel manager, team manager, and also acting as Respol Team spokesperson, it could be viewed as a conflict of interests. How many times last year did Nicky complain of clutch problems only to be told it was fine, just ride the bike. Finally near the end of the year HRC admitted that in fact the clutch was defective and found a cure. That let Nicky finish strong and pull out the championship, no thanks to Torpedo Pedrosa. In the end though Nicky will have to ride it as it is. I wish he would have taken Ducati or Yamaha offers instead of re-upping with Honda.

Nicky just looking for the bigger and better deal. He would have a bigger fan base with Yamaha, but he keeps fluctuating back and forth on contract deals once something doesn't goes his way. He's got the Premaddona syndrome going on instead of worrying about his riding. I wish he would just focus more on riding than how much money he's going to make tomorrow.

I have to disagree with you on that one. Ducati and Yamaha both offered Nicky considerably more than Honda was willing to go. He overlooked bigger payday to stay with his current crew and what he was familiar with. I think his loyalty was misplaced. Time will tell what the final outcome will be, but even Rossi said that if he could not win another crown then he was glad it was Nicky who did it. His respect for Nicky's character is obvious.
