Well that's your water pump so it could be the shaft the drive the pump leaking or coming from the stator which is above and left of the water pump... Are you sure its oil? that area gets a lot of chain lube build up and could be getting hot and dripping down like oil

I had a shit ton of lube in that area.. it really could be the chain lube/wax..
Mattman - did you give the bike an oil change? Can you check the level of oil?

the level of oil is fine! i havent ridin it enough to see if the oil has dissipated at all.
my first thought when i picked up the bike was the oil pan gasket. then over filled oil, and now.....no idea unless its the shaft seal.....

if that bike ever lost a chain could be shifter seal... could possibly be the water pump o-ring seal also.

buy chain cleaner from cycle gear or some where and clean the fuck out of that area, do a lap or two arround your block and look for fresh oil you lazy fucker.

yeah well water pump o-rings are cake to change.. i believe there should only be two bolts holding it in to the motor and it should slide out.. you just gotta drain your rad and disconnect all the hose's
make sure when replacing the o-ring you oil the o-ring and clean the cylinder it slides into.. it will pinch and bind up easy and leak again.
damn its a ten dollar o-ring to haha

possibly be rotted. that bike sat for awhile right? sometimes you cant see problems, half the fork seals i have ever changed i was the only one that could tell the damaged one out of the pair and no one else.. which is a bit different from the water pump o-ring but yeah, oil is micro you know. i suggest running semi synthetic and seeing if it still leaks.. but oil changes are a bit more expensive then the o ring.

Yes, it needs to be on!lol - it engages the start. in order to start a gixxer you have to pull the clutch in.
there is a way to bypass it, but i have no idea how to.

Guaranteed the first few times you start it, it will be in gear and lurch out from underneath ya!
As long as it works..just leave it...
