this is a general question but also directed to richie and jason since they have the same bike as mine...what is the condition of your rear tire now. i have less that 5k on my bike and im already in the market for a new one. is that just me...cheap oe tire?...or what?

I replaced my rear at 3800 miles. I was practicing emergency braking in the parking lot and wore a patch down to the cords. Also, I was getting pretty bald in the middle anyways. Probably from burnouts at the track lol.

my rears last like 4500-5000 and my fronts last like 7k. So for every 3 rear i use 2 front. I put a rear on in november and im already due for a new one haha

The highways out here murder tires...typical usage range for rear tires is 4K-6K miles...I've got 5 1/2K on the back tire I have now and it is still doing ok...

on my gsxr they lasted me about 7k..i do drive my r6 harder and faster than i did my gsxr so that might explain it

Also depends a lot on the brand of tire that you go with...I went with Dunlaps this round and like I said above, they are holding up very well

i had dunlops and they did good...right before i traded in my gsxr i had put pilot powers and loved them so i think i might get those....what do you guys think

Don't know, never used pilot powers

ull notice the difference in the pilots as soon as you get on your bike man. smoother ride and much softer turning.

I went from a dunlop 208 in the front and a qualifier on the rear to pilot powers about a week ago. The difference is amazing. Much smooter ride and they respond so much better in the corners.

LOL, how the hell do you guys get 5k out of a pilot power??? I was getting about 1600 on a rear and about 3000 on the front.... And I wear the outsides before the middle.:p

I heard the average for medium tires is 3000 miles. Hard tires average is 5000 miles. Soft tires is 1500 miles. From riders that ride hard to riders that are law abiding.

total newb question - how do you know if your tires need to be replaced? (i guess, what sort of wear should you be looking for in front and back tires?)

The tread has wearbars in them...but usually right when you see metal mess lol

thanks.. i asked because i was wondering why i am at such a higher mileage than everyone else. but then i looked up pilot powers (which a lot of you ride) and compared them to pilot roads (which i ride) and mine are made more for the sport touring type and lots of commuting (which i do)... so i guess it makes sense. i'll just keep an eye on my tires for the wear to show up
