View Full Version : Tortilla Flats/Canyon Lake Sunday Morning

Who wants to make a run to Tortilla Flats/Canyon Lake sunday morning? I am more then down for it. If we do it we would have to meet up at Apache and Rural at the Chevron and roll out at 7:30 sharp to get there before all the boats. Also dont worry about keeping up as everyone will cruise at their own pace, and everyone out front of the group will show down then they start to pul away. Who else would be in for an early ride? Any later then this and you will get stuck behind all the boats going to the lake...

I would be down for this but i have a piece of a tree stuck in my rear tire from my last offroading adventure, so maybe next time for me.

might wanna get that fixed. Did it go all the way through the chords or just into the rubber? Anyways i need a new rear also, i have probably 500 safe miles left on it

Again we will meet at Chevron on Rural and Apache. Meet at 7:15 and roll out at 7:30 sharp. We will head down to the 60. Go east on the 60 to ironwood and proceed to Tortilla flats from there. You will want to fill up or top your bike off at Chevron if you plan to ride so we dont have to stop again. If you live closer to AJ then you can meet us at the gas station on Ironwood just north of the 60. Post up here is you plan on going and where you will meet up. A. Apache/rural or B. Ironwood gas station.

Just a side note, not sure if anyone has been watching the weather at all.... Monsoon season maybe kicking into overdrive for a lil while.... Apperently storm cells are coming up from mexico and coming down from the northwest and things could get a lil hairy unlike myself.... So I strongly urge that we keep a close eye on the weather to come....

But I'll do you a favor, since it is AZ here's the forecast: It will be cooler than later in the day, traffic will suck as usual, and there will be a slight chance of rain.... Thanx for tuning into the 6 am forecast and I will see you 10 am.... Good morning and God speed.... This is Dan Rathers signing off....

Thats crazy, it has to get really windy to pick a 350 pound bike up off it's kickstand. I'm sorry about your misfortune.

wow. only 350lbs?! Mines closer to 500! That's why I've dropped it too many times.....
We better watch the forecast. It's thundering and lightning right now as I type this. It look pretty bad outside and I have no rain gear.
by the way...I woke up an hour and a half late amd the house was dark and too quiet. My parents left me w/o a word. They are flying to Orange County to sign the papers on their new vacation home! They didn't tell me it was today! :D

Speaking of Kick Stands.... I had a moment on Mon. where i put the stand down and looked at the bike funny like WTF, this thing is leaning way too far over. Looked at the stand and the bolt had come out, but it was still there, just out of the thread. Yea i was impressed that it didnt fall over somehow. Any way just make sure and CHECK THE BOLT THAT HOLDS UR KICKSTAND ON EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE TOO MAKE SURE IT IS STILL TIGHT.!!!! That is all

very true... hes gotta get that thing back up to stock height before he gets into the twisties. The change of the suspension setup can really mess with your riding and actually hurt your riding

I may wear my one piece as my sun burns are killing me (entire upper body and shins are burned...bad). My jacket is loose and tends to move around a bit which isnt going to be comfortable. We will see how i feel in the morning

The ride was awesome! Sorry you guys had to wait for me to catch up. The S. Mt ride was my first curves (car and bike!). So, I had to take those a bit slow, but thanks for waiting for me! I had lots of fun.
I had some issues at the the gas station...Arco sucks! They charged me $.45 to use my debit card and they don't take credit! Then the stupid nozzle leaked gas all over my tank and they had no paper towels. sigh.

sorry to hear that. Good to hear you had fun. It would be nice to get a group of crusiers and sport bikes to go out next time so we could split up for the riding and get together for breakfast/lunch and the ride there and back

08-27-2006, 06:43 PM
that was the best ride ever. i met 4 other bikers, we went at 4 and there was just a few boats in the way. i suggest this to any new riders because you get about 10 times better at turns. the only thing bad was my hand went numb during the ride but a good shake kept me going. Can't wait to actually go with the group now.

Damm, I missed another ride. This time it was all my fault though, Out all night at the bars down on mill ave. Next time i'll be there for sure though......
Blue Devil
08-27-2006, 08:39 PM
yea if i went to the bars i would have missed it, or been really tired when riding, but i had pretty bad sun poisoning so i went to sleep at like midnight. Its not that bad to wake up early as when you get home you just fall asleep. Everyone came to my place after and at some point each one of us fell asleep on the couches while watching the DTK motogp movie
