It's pretty bad when you can go down a list like that and go "check, I've done that" check, that's not done on my bike".
you notice it says nothing about plate placement......hehehehe

Mirrors are the law. They won't renew your tags without mirrors and you could get a ticket, however, you tell them that someone tip your bike over and the mirror broke. They probably will let you off. Just don't get pulled over by the same cop later on down the road.

Not to pick on you R6SNOB, but you might want to take a second and read the Arizona Revised Statues Title 28...

AZ Vehicle Law (http://www.azleg.state.az.us/ArizonaRevisedStatutes.asp?Title=28)

Plate specific (http://www.azleg.state.az.us/ars/28/02354.htm)

Notice - Clearly visible.

Shoot, pick on R6SNOB all day long. We don't mind.

It is plate specific but it is enforced based on bike. I have never seen or heard of a cruiser/chopper getting stopped because of plate location. Swing arm plates are done all the time. I have talked to a few sportbike riders that have been stopped and cited for swing arm plates or plates that are not visible. I've been stopped for no rear reflector!

I was with a guy on a ride who was stopped on his V-Rod for plate...;)

The plate is usually an excuse to stop you for other reasons. Usually the rider is riding erratic or doing something to draw attention to themselves.

You are correct about chopper however, I have never seen one stopped...

At least it is not just sportbikes. Alot of the stops are because of the number of riders without a motorcycle endorsement. I am always surprised when I talk to people that do not have an endorsment. Most are just to lazy to go take the test.

Everyone should get veteran's plates like me. That way, they don't bother you as much.

Honestly you have to be doing something to get an officers attention, they have so much crap they deal with in a day.

I always have to chuckle when I hear someone say "I was just minding my own business and not doing anything." The reality is if they notice you, it was because you brought attention to yourself.

Which is why you can have tons of people say that they have run for years with a plate a certain way or no mirrors without issue....

I have to agree with you on that.

But then there are people like me that get pulled over while stopped at a red light next to a cop because I had no mirrors. The day after I took them off. He just rolled down his window and told me to pull over. Funny as hell when I think about it.

I heard they have monthly quotas to meet, so at the end of the month they start to really look at stuff to bust you for. kinda like how we wait till teh last min to study for a midterm

chico
04-10-2007, 05:36 PM
Monthly quotas are not legal and were thrown out of courts years ago. But the funny thing about that is they still use ticket numbers to see if traffic officers are doing their jobs.

Jimmy3
04-10-2007, 05:42 PM
It's a technicality thing then.

Hey, you gotta gauge if somebody is doing their job and ticket count is one way of knowing if they are out on the street or hanging out in QT buying Milk Duds....

salvador0516
04-10-2007, 07:00 PM
yeah, but that might envoke certain actions. like waiting for the last min. to make up for all the time lost hanging out at qt.

Plus, cops that have more tickets for more serious crimes are generally looked at for promotions more. So no, there is no official quota to meet but it looks better the more they have.
