First off, I am not saying to not wear a helmet!

Just thought the info was interesting.

In 2008, it looks like it wouldn't of made much of a difference...In fact, more people died wearing them...

entire report can be viewed @ http://www.azdot.gov/mvd/Statistics/crash/index.asp

People with helmets tend to think they are more invincible and cruise at a much faster speed. I'm sure there is a lot of data that they are not taking into consideration, such as overall speeds with and without helmets, etc. etc.

Yeah I was thinking about that also....

So it begs the question that could you be safer without one because you will probably ride within your limits? Instead of outside of them because you have the illusion of being invincible?

I have the same view on helmets as I do seat belts...as long as I am doing everything the way I should be, my odds are better with them then without them. It is definitely true that they are not taking everything into consideration with those numbers, but unfortunately that will not change them. What it really reflects on is how the person is riding...shiny side up and ride within your limits guys.
