Sorry Jing....it was me...

Seriously I think it was the construction zone you parked at....but even so....how is it POSSIBLE for a nail to puncture all the way through your tire seeing how fast the tire spins? Unless it was glued with the head side to the ground and then unglued....

I agree with Jimmy....it might be someone...random person...but someone

It's not me. I don't know you. I'm in Baghdad, Iraq.

idk, but the same exact thing happened to me, except mine was like a 4" nail. went out for a ride, come home and its through the tire sticking out of the sidewall and i literally just got the tire the day before. it sucked to say the least

you were parked in a construction area? i guess that makes sense, then. sucks, though..

lol...no, i wouldn't park in a construction area and then be like..."hmm..where'd this nail come from?" lol...it was actually a designated ASU motorcycle parking area near papa johns...there was, however, some loose articles on the ground...

so does that mean you're out of commission/no riding this weekend?
naw..i brought it over to my friends immediately after i discovered it and he patched it up for me....so i've been riding on it and everything no prob~

which brings me to another question..would patching that hole up be sufficient?

As a temp solution...I wouldn't ride more then a few weeks to a month on it though...

Yup. Don't ride around for it too long or else, it will deflate at the minimal and cause more probs.

really? my friend who fixed it said he did the same for his truck tire and it was fine...would it be much different?

Yes, Trucks have extra 3 wheels to displace the weight with slow leakage. Bike has two wheels and there is no way to displace the weight if it blows out.

truck tires and bike tires are way different. truck/car tires have a flat surface to attach the patch to. whereas bike tires are all curved surfaces and much harder to keep a good seal. hopefully he put on liquid cement and the black sealer after he put on the patch.

as for nails... i doubt it was anybody in particular. ive seen so many kinds of nails in tires. once they get a bite into the tire, the weight of the vehicle drives the nail all the way in to the head.

last time (and only time) I parked in a construction area, I lost my license plate.

actually it was the same designated motorcycle parking lot you parked in. they were building somethng next to it.

i wouldnt trust a plug on a bike tire only because if the plug fails and ur tire goes flat...there is no back-up tire to ride it out on...

tubeless tires??

i dont trust plugs either. i do trust patches, but on a motorcycle i would only ride on it until i could afford to get a replacement

too big of a risk to run a patch or plug on a bike tire...
