• 99-decibel limit for sound emissions on the racetrack - equivalent to the sound of a gas lawn mower and other lawn equipment.

I love how Goodyear is bitching and yet they have no legal say about the track what so ever

I'd bet a TV on would drown out any noise that would make it to the houses. I've heard funnycars, and would understand that (although I would argue that my neighbors are louder), but from a distance, if everything is quiet, then they might hear us.

what a sickly biased and false article. convenient they don't mention the screaming fighter jets in the background, and htey weren't shut down for noise complaints en masse. they got shut down because he started opening it up commercial which wasn't his original intent, or at least not clear in his original plans and permits. b.s.

For those that have no clue about whats really going on. In 2002 every city and land owner including Goodyear and Litchfield Park, LUKE AFB and Suncor were all notified about the Special Use Permit application for the racetrack. The listed above sent approval letters saying they supported the racetrack SUP application. The racetrack did not have ONE disapproval letter from any city or land owners including the golf course next door! Even our current governor supported the racetrack while she was a Board Of Supervisor. Current Goodyear Mayor Jim Cavanaugh has no grounds to stand on. Get your facts straight Mayor. Your city approved the development but now you dont. What shame! Nora Fascenelli, a Goodyear spokeswoman says "Our concern is for residents to be able to have the quiet use and enjoyment of their property" . So she must be for more incroachment and eventual closure of LUKE AFB also. Over the course of the next few years after the permit was granted all the politicians that approved the project including the Board of Supervisors were replaced or moved on. So now we have a bunch of back peddling politicians costing the tax payers millions in legal fees. Wasteful spending anyone? The mastermind behind all of this was Suncor and BOS Max Wilson. Max was former land developer before being elected and still owns a real estate company in Litchfield Park. Interesting? Suncor is the major land owner across the street from the track and was the financial driving force behind all of this. Just look at the campaign contributions from Suncor to Max Wilson. Suncor even went so far has paying for transportation to BOS meetings for anyone that disapproved of the track. Its clear there is much more behind this story than what is really being told in the news papers. Suncor ownes about 3000 + acres across the street from the racetrack. Has we all know the real estate explosion that happened in 2004. This caused Suncor to reevaluate its position on the racetrack. Suncor realizing that it can make more money if the track was closed for its new housing development did just that and its point guard was Max Wilson. What a coincidence the housing development broke ground just after the track permit was illegally revoked by Max Wilson and the other BOS. Just look at google map and see for yourself. You can see the curvature of the development along Camelback Rd. So who allowed this obvious encroachment of Luke AFB? You guessed it, good old Max Wilson. Before Suncors development the closest homes to LUKE and the racetrack were Pebble Creek and Litchfield Greens which are over a mile away. Not anymore! Not to mention the encroachment of La Loma that Max approved even though LUKE did not. How two faced can Mr Wilson really be ? One hand he supports LUKE but on the other hand he allows all of this encroachment upon LUKE. Shame on you Max.

So to all of you now that are against it. I have this to say. How un-American can you be?
An american tax paying citizen goes successfully through the application process and is granted a permit and invests millions and than we revoke his permit all over Corporate greed. How communist! This was driven by nothing more than Corporate greed and the obvious misuse of political power by Max Wilson.
Sure there was a few noise complaints but its clear the race track owner has always been willing to be a good neighbor and self impose noise restrictions but it never had a chance. I hope the racetrack tells the County NO to its proposal. After all he has prevailed in our court system. Why should he? Well my guess would be he really does care about his neighbors. Unlike some of you. So the next time someone complains about noise while living within 5 miles of LUKE AFB you should think twice about your selfish intentions. If you can handle the 120 dbs from the jets I think you should be just fine at 99 dbs. This country was not built by back peddlers. God Bless America

anyone who moves next to an air force base and wants it to be quiet just needs punched in the face.

+1000000000!!!

and then for someone to actually complain about the noise of a motorcycle track right next to the base, um, pretty sure those fighters that take off and land all day are gonna be louder than a bike, they should be punched in the face twice.

these are the people who will vote yes on another worthless shopping plaza with all the same b.s. (home depot, jack in the box, hair salon, nail salon, payless shoe store, and some other stores, oh and gotta have a cvs or walgreens in it too.) thats all this state is becoming. one big shopping mall. no big companies coming in to set up shop and offer real careers but just a bunch of the same stores that offer no pay. these people vote yes for all this but vote no for something for real recreation and something unique in az. hate these type of people. just cause its something they don't want. bunch of selfish pricks.

i rode over there today and sat at a table by the golf course club shop. i see no reason why the track shouldnt be open. jets fly right over the track and no way a couple dozen bikes spread out over that long track would even come close to being as loud as those jets. people just like to complain about something even though it doesnt affect them.

It happened in Vegas while I lived there also. The people who lived around McCarran started bitching about the noise all of a sudden and wanted it either better regulated or moved. It's what people do. It's the American way.
