So I purchased set and it comes with two lines for the front brakes. Well on the 06-07 R6, one line comes out of the master than goes to a splitter...which separates the one line into two down to the calipers.

So should I get another line for the master to splitter? Seems kind of dumb to put steel on the bottom and not the top of the system...? Or does the fluid not get as hot up there (which wouldnt make sense to me).

Also, has anyone done this on an R6 that could help? Kinda dont want to fuck with the brake lines and getting it to a shop to do it is kind of a pain...

are the lines long enough to run from the mc to the caliper and completely eliminate the splitter?

Every junction is another opportunity for a leak. If you want to keep the 3 line set up, all 3 should be braided SS lines.

If they are long enough, you should be able to get a double Banjo bolt with crush washers to run off the master, eliminating the junction. Just remember, there needs to be room for slack in the lines, so if there's barely enough length, they're too short.

alright well I just looked at the packaging closer and there is a double banjo bolt. Thanks guys :)

Also, when taking the old lines off...I tried to get the bolt out of the caliper and thought I was going to break my wrist. It's fucking in there. Keep going until it snaps loose? I don't want to "brake" anything and be out for sunday...

it wont break.. just dont strip it. and 3 crush washers will go on that double banjo bolt... one at the beginning, middle, end

My questions are ,in an emergency it`s anchors on( normal reaction for me ) which happened to me this year and i did the almost perfect emergency stop, well i had to release the back brake a time or two.If I had braided hoses fitted i feel that i would have locked up.I use all 4 fingers when braking,Q,do you? Also why don`t they fit them to new bikes if you think there better

The steel braided lines dont flex as much as the rubber ones. They give you more feel when applying the brake. I only use 2 fingers when braking. I didnt upgrade the rear brake to steel braided because I hardly ever use it. Some do but I think most dont upgrade the rear. In my oppinion its not worth it. I think the reason they dont come standard from the manufacturer is just simply cost. Just like there are better brake pads, rotors, shocks, tires and much, much more. The manufacturer isnt going to put the best parts on it cause they want to keep their cost down and the bike performs just fine without them. Thats where the aftermarket industry comes in to pick up the slack.

They do come stock on some bikes [usually $15,000+ bikes like ducatis] but they cost too much to put on every one. Steel dosen't swell like rubber does and lasts longer. Yes in your emergency stopping situation if you had steel lines and apply'd the same amount of pressure you would lock up tires, but you wouldn't apply that much pressure [just like how you released the rear brake a couple times during that stop]. O and I use 2 fingers, middle and ring[?] fingers.

i use pointer and middle on track, and 4 for stoppies.

Pointer and middle too here... Plus, by not having to grab the brakes so hard, you keep pressure off of the bars, which is always a good thing!
