ive always been curious as to why a lot of jackets and race suits have that little hump behind the head. is it there to help with airflow or what?

airflow, stops the neck from folding back to far in an accident, and racers also have a pouch of water like a camelback in there.

It also acts as a cusion for the back and compresses in a wreck like a pillow.
If you get leathers with one do research first on what brand to get, some of them were getting ripped off the leathers in a craash.

i bought my 1 piece leathers without one because i want to put one on that has the water pouch in it. No point in gettin what you dont want.

True you definately want to be happy with what you have when you are spending that much money. I also might get leathers without so that i can take my camelback since i use it as a back pack also.
