I wanted to guage how long people of been riding. I really am just suprised I have not seen more activity, especially from new riders in this forum. It's seems like a lot of the vets will get involved, but the newers riders stay quiet.

So how long have you been riding? What was your first Bike?

You don't have one for 25+ years. :)

First bike was a little Yamaha 70 when I was maybe 9, but I had already been riding my friends Trail 70s and assorted minibikes for a few years. The first street bike I bought for myself was a brand new 1983 Yamaha Seca 400. I've always gravitated towards lighter bikes; I dig the handling over the heavier bikes. Had a couple of dozen of various styles since then, but almost all of them have been naked/standard bikes. Really prefer the upright riding position.

05 R6 is my first bike

I figured this forum was more for the guys as I dont see much on here from any of the female riders. But as I am often bored at work, I find myself logging on and being entertained by 99% of the posts. The 1% is when you guys are "busting my balls" when I post a WTB classified. :72:

Good Stuff Guys and gal(s)..

i bough my first bike in 99 (98 gix 6), rode for a few months, then sold it. bought another bike in 05 (05 gix 6). that is what i really consider my start of riding. I really wouldn't coung my suzuki DS 80 - lol.

A majority of people are fairly young on here.. sometimes i forget that you crazy bastards have been riding for so long. lol.

And Dean & Randy, props to you for riding that damn long! that's awesome.

5 years with my 03 R6.

If I'm not in the kitchen, then I'm out riding. Two of my favorite places. :]

Johnny, keep in mind, a lot of people have their own little groups they like to ride in and don't like to open their rides up to the general DR public. ;]

I think it has to do with trusting the people you ride with and knowing that their not going to do anything stupid.... if you ride with the same small group.. you almost know how they are going to react before they do, there is such a rhythm, a feeling that you dont' have to think....

at least that's what i thought.

I started riding a YSR50 when I was 11 years old, and I'm 24 now, so that's 13 years. However, I've only been riding on the "open road" since I was about 19-20, so that would put me at 4-5 years. I voted 8+, though, since I've been in the saddle for a lot longer.

Now, if I could just find the money to restore that YSR50, then I'd have a hell of a fun time at bike nights with you all, LOL!

I became licensed in 1985 and my first bike was a 85' Honda VF500F Interceptor. I roadraced in the 90's and also commuted in LA traffic for years on a GSXR1100 Slingshot.

So...I have about 25 years experience and about 200,000 riding miles under my belt. No motorcycle accidents yet...

You kids remember my first bike when I was rolling around Tempe in the Corona Katana! It later went to black (with the leopard seat), and on to the GSXR with removable fairings, ala, kieth's exhaust, the scooter that sucks up money and dust, and now a donkey (hopefully back to the Vespa soon).

So ya, five years and some change, 3 1/2 was daily riding, and numerous blasts on the ten to Los Angeles and back...

Unfortunately I was 28 when I rode for the first time. Spent 10 minutes on an enduro, next day got my license, next day got my first bike. A '98 Suzuki Marauder. About a week later I found out its top speed was 107 mph, and was PISSED!!!

I'm a bit late on this...but I've got a bit over 21 years of riding under my belt.

Started on a Honda 100, moved to a KTM 400, then an 86 Honda Shadow, and finally an 05 Gixxer 6...next will either be a Triumph Rocket III Roadster or a Busa...haven't decided yet.

You're a sick man, you know that? :D Those bikes are freakin' intense in how much torque they put out, LOL. You'll definitely have a unique ride if you go that route!

First bike was a Honda MR-175, bike I miss most, Kawasaki H2 750 two-stroke triple... man, that thing was gnarly. Spindly frame, shitty brakes and a wicked motor, make for a very interesting ride.
