it's about time for a new chain and sprockets ( bike has over 18k on it, chain has a kink in it )

I'm going to stay 525 and get steel sprockets ( fuck the weight )

thinking I'll regear the bike while I'm at it -1/ +2

D.I.D. 525VM2 Chain
JT F&R steel sprockets ( 15/45 )

few questions:

how much is my speedo going to be off?

Is it worth getting speedohealer of somesort? ( don't want any tickets )

the connecting link looks kinda weak, can I just somehow eliminate that?

how much is my speedo going to be off? - it will read about 10.4% fast. Example you are going 50mph you speedo will read 55mph. Going 100mph your speedo will read 110mph.

Do you need a speedo healer well thats up to you to make the call. Remember its adding more miles to your odometer than you would otherwise have so it is cutting your resale value down.

the connecting link looks kinda weak, can I just somehow eliminate that? - Any motor cycle shop should be able to sell you a rivet style master link for a 525 O ring chain. Should be only a few bucks.

Most types of chains come with a rivit master link, I'd choose another.

ive ran the clip style on dirtbikes and on my r6 before I had a rivet tool. never had an issue. the force on the chain is really being applied to the pins, not the clip. so I wouldnt worry too much about it but if you have someone with a rivet tool that is willing to do it then why not?

I'll be using a rivet style master link instead, no worries

I'd just like the extra assurance with the rivet style over the clip :-)
