Has anyone done it? Will I be able to take enough away from it for the $300 toward the school vs a trackday?

Seems like it's more street based stuff vs a "racing school". Think CHP training videos of them doing tight turns, slalom type stuff. No doubt beneficial but I guess it really comes down to what are you wanting out of it?

I was kinda thinking that, but wanted to know what other people thought, or if they had experienced it. It looks like it's a focus on form with focus on controlling the bike, which I like learning about.

Is it the Birdman from that other site? If that's him, he's a prick and no thanks. I'll skip the school. If that's the case I'll pay the extra $100 a day and do the Pridmore school in Chuckwalla. I don't want to talk to someone who thinks what he says is the end all and doesn't welcome discussion. Hell, even Keith Code will discuss theory on riding with you.

Pretty sure its birdman on here and birdman on south west rides is the same person.. I have never had any issues with him not being open to discussion but that's just me sounds like you had a different experience with him.. either way he's a total control instructor here in AZ so given your out look on him I would think you may want to look at a different class

Jason,
I've taken Total Control several times and I'm also an instructor (though not active right now).
The course is very applicable to track riding and I highly recommend it. There's quite a lot of good stuff packed into the course for the money, and the 1 on 1 coaching time is also very valuable. If you don't want to take the course from Rob, there is another active local instructor.
The course is held at the TEAM AZ range - basically a parking lot, but the same principles of negotiating a corner and proper body positioning apply at 25 MPH and 125 MPH. With Total Control, you'll be hanging off and dragging your knee at 25 MPH, just in a tighter turn, obviously.
Here's picture proof - me in the same TEAM AZ parking lot during the Total Control course a few years ago. The photo was actually taken by Lee Parks.

Awesome Dean, thanks. I also met Pilot last weekend and he's starting it up in Vegas. Great guy. Took a lot of time out of his work schedule to chat with me. I could have talked to him for days, but my wife was there and I was being courteous and didn't want to make her sit there while we were talking about motorcycles.
