Alright so I never do anything half assed on my bike. So here is the HID setup waiting on a few parts to finish the build for now but I thought I would post up whats been done so far. So if you want to do this follow along.

First remove the headlight housing, strip it of any bulbs, wires, blood or what ever else does not need to be there the more stuff that is out of the way the better.

Then set your oven on 200 degrees and let it warm up. Put a rack in the next to lowest position and put a towel down on the rack. Then toss your headlight assembly into the oven for 2 - 3 minutes. That warms the glue that holds the clear lens over the headlight and makes it soft, then use a wide flat blade screw driver pop the tabs that hold it together and start to pry it apart. As the glue cools you will have to toss it in for a few more minutes each time. When you are done the clear cover and the base should be separate.

Now remove the reflector assembly by turning the adjuster screws all the way out. And remove the adjuster inserts from the reflector.

Now is where you have to get creative. I made an adapter plate that had slots for the adjuster inserts, 4 holes to mount the projector and 1 big hole for the back of the projector to stick though.

Next I played with some 10mm spacers to find out what the proper depth for the projectors was in this case it was 33.6mm from the adapter plate to the mounting flange of the projector.

I then went and got stainless steel hardware and aluminum spacers for the final assembly.

When the rest of the parts get in I will show you how I am finishing this off. Hint, LED's, metal tape, CCFL's and an interesting wiring set up is up next.

looks good so far, is the heat generation from the bulbs a concern? and the electronics package?

should add some black foam in there to cover up all the mess behind the lenses or paint it all black. done it on on a friends 600rr. also add led strips and the lenses had ccfl's around them.

Nope those projectors were designed for it. The ballast was made by xentec.

I ordered something a little more flashy than black foam. Unfortunately after it got here today I found it would not work the way i wanted it to. So back to square one, till I figure out what will work best its going back together as is. (I wanna ride). I am not going to do the Angel Eyes or the Audi style lighting around the edge as I think its being far too played out in the car scene, I got something else in mind.

Originally I was gonna run this to finish it off.

However due to the way its made I can not trim off what I needed to clear the outer black shroud and still cover on whats going on behind it.

yea that's because you don't have projectors with your hid kit just the bulbs..

but its worth the extra effort cause it will focus the beams for better light output.

Nate doesn't give himself enough credit....

I think that although be it unfortunate that the shrouds didn't work, they still look really clean. I have to admit that even w the lights off it still makes it the best looking F4i I've seen, and that's saying something, as I've never really been a fan of the bike. justa personal preference, that's all lol.

Went for a group ride last night and i don't think they blinded anyone, and they were for sure fine behind me. I think he did them right.
