parked my bike overnight, went to start it in the morning.

go to start it in the morning to warm it up, sounds rough idling ( it was cold, shrugged ) as I'm walking back inside to grab my helmet .. it stalls out.

I do a quick visual inspection, haven't changed anything on the bike recently. go to start it.. sounds like it's turning over but it won't idle. If I give it some throttle it will run, otherwise it stalls out as soon as I let off the throttle.

I checked my fuses, I have fuel ( just recently, doesn't smell bad )
I can hear the fuel pump priming
I replaced the battery a few months back, stator or rectifier wouldn't cause this right? *it stalled out on me on the way to work, got a jump, as soon as I took it off the jumper cables it went crazy ( guages, misfire, wouldn't make it home ) I replaced the battery thinking it just went bad, ran fine.

Ideas?

So you replaced the battery again and now it runs fine? Could have been a bad battery or loose connection. Check the voltage at the battery with the bike running. Under or over charging could cause a premature failure.

I think he was reffering to the battery being replaced a few months back.

Do you have a power commander on the bike?

if he just put another battery in & it started to run fine I would ask for how long. sounds to me like there is a charging system failure. Most likely stator/vvoltage regulator

To the poster above, no I don't have a power commander.

Its been a couple months since I replaced the battery. It ran well, until now.

Tip over sensor wouldn't do this would it?

I want to jump the bike with some jumper cables and see how it runs, to rule out the battery just haven't had any.

Just back from the Cardinals game :-) yeah buddy

gave the jumper cables a run, same thing leading me to believe the battery is fine.

I wonder if adjusting the idle up would keep it running...

Ok, battery replaced not to long ago. Still, test the voltage at the battery with the bike running. Post up what you find.

REGULATED VOLTAGE

• Remove the front seat. (
8-7)

• Start the engine and keep it running at 5 000 r/min with the

dimmer switch turned HI position.
• Measure the DC voltage between the

+ and - battery terminals

using the multi-circuit tester. If the voltage is not within

the specified value, inspect the generator and regulator/rectifier.
(

9-10 and -11)

NOTE:

When making this test, be sure that the battery is in fully-charged
condition.

09900-25008: Multi-circuit tester set

Tester knob indication: Voltage ()

Regulated voltage (Charging output):
14.0 – 15.5 V at 5 000 r/min

I ran this test and it was within 14-15.5V

videos I uploaded:

with throttle
VID 20111212 00001 - YouTube

I did a fuel pressure test per manual.

specification was 43PSI

I turned the bike on and the guage red 44PSI, let it sit for a min and it dropped to 40psi and 38psi the other time. Is it intial reading or waiting a minute or two?
