Well I wan't to go fast(duh) but I also probably won't be taking the bike to the track anytime soon. I'f im feeling ballzy like that, i'll go jump on my 500ktm dirtbike for now lol. I just want something that is a good beginner bike. Been riding dirtbikes for a year or so, so i know how to ride. I have been looking at cbr600's and r6's mostly but those are race bikes correct? I will also probably ride it to my house in socal every now and again so I want to be semi-comfortable. Any recommendations?

hahahaha.... Ok it's not really funny but the question that there will never be a straight forward answer.... In my opinion yamaha's rule but I am also very bias.... Another opinion is in todays age all bike are all very equal in there own ways.... The first step is a 600 will put you right were you need to be.... As far as what brand, well this is where it gets difficult.... I choose yamaha because I have riden yamaha for many years so that's where I got a lot of my bias from.... You on the other hand may have other experiences, and you should go on them.... My suggestion for you is read all the reviews you can, ask everyone you can, goto all the manufacturers websites and check it out for yourself.... As far as the hole race bike issue goes, well as far as I am concerned all the 600's are based off of a race bike so, yea....

get like a 2001 or 2002 cbr600 f4i. It will be cheap compared to other bikes, fast as other bikes, handles the same, fuel injected, and they are tanks (they can take anything... not tnaks as in size wise). All the same as other bikes just cheaper

ive been to the dealer around here and have sat on an a 97 cbr600, 06 r6, 04 cbr600, 05 rc51(i think), gsx600, and a yamaha 600r. to be honest, just sitting on them they all felt very similar. some wehre a little more comfortable but not huge amounts.

so im kinda htinking, does it really matter what I get? is thre huge differences between any of the 600 bikes? it seems to me that most of the differences are cosmetic and its going to come down to what i think looks cool...

not much of a difference for someone new to street bikes. Its all the fit of the bike to your body and confort really. Go for whatever you find. When i get on other bikes after riding mine for over 11k miles they feel different.

yup I have been riding my beginner bike for a while now and I went and sat on a cbr600rr R6 Gixxer 600 and the YZF600 for shits and giggles I could feel the difference in them all now that i have been riding but when I went and sat on a few bikes last year before learning how to ride and bein on the ROAD I couldn't tell the difference so sit on as many as often as possible.

It just so happen that my lil brother is looking for a new sport bike, he just started riding and is planning to take the MSF course, told him to get something on the 600cc range, not a new bike cause as we all know, sooner or later is gonna hit the ground. Any opinions on the triumph daytona 650? Love the colors and looks (actually its very similar to the R6). At the end is his call, I just hope he makes a smart choise.
