2006 Raven R6.

and already have my first question. What is the running temp on these bikes? Mine got up to 230 degrees just riding around ASU's parking lot... that cant be normal... i parked it and let the fans run and they turned off at 199. any ideas?

if thats normal its fine but i just wanted to make sure. just seemed really hot. my ass was burning

holy shit that was fast as hell dude.

Nice bike but you know that the Raven's are cursed right.

As for the temps that seems really high especially since it wasn't that hot. My fans kick on at 220 and only in heavy traffic in direct sun does it pass 225.

p.s without pics you are still considered bikeless

if you were just riding around at low speeds.. in the middle of the day.. yea.. 230 is about right. mostly cause you arent getting enough air flow. now once u get about 15 mph or more for a good period of time, then its "ok" enough air flow amd it wont over heat.

btw... as said above.. u know the ravens r cursed right??

11,500 out the door. including tax, license, assembly, 3year warranty and service, and it has 1500 worth of upgrades on it already(rear-end cleaned up(ill take pics) pipe, and race grips). I talked them down for about 4 hours. I couldnt pass it up.

yup! makes me wonder where he went to get the bike (im gonna guess whichever Arizona motorsports is closest to him), how much he paid for the bike (ill guess he paid ATLEAST MSPR) and how much he paid for the tire and 3 year ext warranty (ill guess 2500-3k).

no offence but that was fucking stupid. 1st bike is a brand new Sport Bike that you paid MSRP for. go buy frame, fork, clutch, swingarm sliders and bar ends before you ride.

Also if you haven't yet take the MSF course and park the bike untill you do between it being your 1st bike and a Raven it's almost a 100% you will at least drop the bike(not that the odds are in anybody favor when it comes to going down at least 1)

it isnt slamming. Just normally as a first bike people dont go brand new. Dont leave the forum as it will be much help to you. Guys cool down on him. Keep the rubber side down and listen to the advise as it is coming from the people that have made mistakes.

Do your self a favor. For the near 12k you have put into the bike go and take the MSF course. It will teach you everything you need to know in emergencies. I took it with T.E.A.M. Arizona and it taught me a ton of stuff and it had saved my ass more then enough times. I still have the booklet they gave me. If you decide not to take it at least read the book they gave me. I just want to see you have safe fun on the bike. PM me and i will hook you up with the book. Also I will meet you in any parking lot you want and i will help you learn the basics that you need to know. Let me know, i just want you to have fun. I have taken 2 people to the hospital and never want to take another. If i can help you i will. I know as a new biker i had a ton of questions. If I can help you at all please let me know, and for your best interest in learning please stay on the board.

PS dont try and dodge a cat like someone else did

dude we are not slamming you (at least i am not) i am jsut saying with the high odds of going down on your 1st bike and the general fact that Ravens are bad luck (don't ask me why but it seems 90% are down within a year), and the fact you asked just a day and half ago what bike to get then just went and got one is kind of crazy. There is a good reason most of us aren't on brand new bikes and that thoose who are it's their 2nd or 3rd bike.

Don't get me wrong i like the bike and i am glad to see you on one i just have to say that the odds aren't in your favor and that you probably made a quick decsion on what to do. You asked what to do and before most of us even had a chance you went and did what you wanted anyway so you can't really be suprised with the way we react.

i dont think any of us are "slamming" you. but we are telling you that NEXT TIME you may wanna ask a few more questions and wait longer the 48 hours on a decistion thats gonna cost you $12K. Im sure most of us here know where and who to buy a bike from so they dont rip you off, or how much certain options/warranties should cost. I personally made sure this 1 dude over at USA motorsports didnt get a yellow 06 R6 cause when the sales guy left for a minute, i looked at how much they were charging them and told them hes trying to make almost $3200 in profit for himself because this guy had no clue what he was doing. so i told him what the stuff should cost and where to go to buy it *and incase you dont know.. AZ motorsports is owned by a Caddy dealer.. hence CAR salesmen are selling bikes that they dont know SHIT about. and just like a car salesman, theu see a young kid looking at a new sports bike..they think GOLD MINE!

Me personally.. I bought my '02 R6 after the 2nd day of taking the T.E.A.M. Arizona MSF course (my buddy wanted to go look, we did.. being 19 we were both dumb and we got 1 right then and there THINKING MSRP is a good deal). Needless to say we got screwed (went to town and country). SO yea.. i had a brand new bike as my 1st sports bike, cost me around 13k otd, pretty stupid imo, but oh well.. i cant sell it back, its to late now.. ill just have to live and learn. None of use on the board (or any rider in general) wants to see any fellow rider, or future rider, or returning rider, get screwed over on purchasing a new bike. BUT, if you just come on a board all hot and heavy saying "ME WANT ME WANT" and not even 2 days later you go get something.. expect alittle flaming because we probably could have saved you a few thousand $.

But now, when ever i have anyone ask me that they are wanting to get a bike... u can even ask the people i ride with what i will say *and im sure they say the same thing when they get asked* TAKE the MSF first. http://www.motorcycletraining.com/ If u are really serious.. u will drop the $200 to LEARN to ride, this way when you go look at bikes and take it for a test ride, u have a clue wtf you are doing and not just look at it going... "Oooo.. its pretty" cause what if it has a fork leak, bad shock, vibrated to all hell. just cause im posting this link doesnt mean you get to SKIP the MSF.. this booklet doesnt do u know good uinless you get out there and let the coaches teach you everything you need to know. http://www.msf-usa.org/CurriculumMaterials/BRC_Handbook_VS7_noprnt.pdf

2nd thing i tell possible new riders is dont get a new bike to learn on. get some cheap bike.. (depending on how NEW they are.. or how coffident.. either 500 or an older (99-02)600 sportsbike. cause more then likely.. you will drop it... actually.. its damn near expected. which would you rather drop.. a older bike that is MENT to be practiced on and you picke dup for $4000 or a NEW bike that costs $12k. just cause you LIKE a bike.. and WANT a bike.. doesnt mean you cant get it, but you dont really need it right away. heck, you love the new 06 R6's (hence y u bought it) but like hell a new rider should get 1, let alone pay the price tag they want for them. You should have went with an older bike ( say an 02 R6), leared on that for a year or so.. then if u still liked the raven 06 R6 get it... or who knows.. maybe by then u would like the 07 model more, or mayeb you want an R1, either way, u should have given it a year or 2 and it probably will go for 1/2 the price it did new, and in the mean time LEARN to ride.

Well congrats on the new bike, they are beautifull,
You better have gear!!!!!! Or at least a Helmet!!!!!!
IMO you paid a lot for that bike ( i would've gotten an R1 for that price, but thats me).....

Good luck and stay safe.

guys, I was in a tough situation. I could spend 4-5k on a used bike and buy one straight out(and then in a year if I wanted a better one I probably wouldnt be able to afford it). Or, I could get the new one with 0 down, no payments for 6 months, 8% interest, and use that same 5K to make the payment over the next 2 1/2 years.

Also, I have been looking at bikes for more than 48 hours :) I just asked that question to see if there was any info I hadn't thouhgt of yet. I had been to the shop here 5 times in the past three weeks, looking at used, looking at new, figuring out riding costs, maintenence, etc. and when I was home I was getting insurance quotes and reading forums for peoples opinions and experiences.

The only reason I hadn't bought one yet was that I wasn't sure if I was going to get residency for ASU. So I could of potentially been spending $15K in tuition this year. Well I got residency.

Yes, I will be taking the MSF class and ASAP. Until then, I'll only be riding in ASU's parking lot. The dealership wants me to bring the bike back today to get the lojack installed and they wanted me to ride it over. I think I'll juts have them come pick it up.

it was 500. The bike is stored outside so I thought it was worth it. It comes with a $5,000 guarantee if they can't recover it.

Congrats on the bike. That is one less Suzuki I have to look at. Next time you need a bike think Honda East Toledo. I am not bashing you but I got my 06 R1 delivered from Toledo for $10,137 plus $500 for extended warranty. I hate all the dealers here in Arizona. I cannot figure out how the motorsports guys stay in business, I hope you didn't go there. Their prices are so high all the competition has to do is cut them buy $500 and you think you are getting a deal. Anyway Good Luck on the new scooter and I hope to meet you one these night at South Mountain or the Pavs.
