Since I am hearing way too many stories about people getting ripped off by dealers around AZ lately (ex. $11k for a new R6, $15k for a new GSXR 600), I thought that maybe we could start a thread on where we got our bikes and approx how much it cost us (if you want to put that info) so other people can reference about how much they SHOULD be paying rather then walking in and making the salesman dude "salesman of the month" and financing keg parties every weekend for himself/his or her co-workers.

Maybe these could be a sticky?

Anyway, I guess since I came up w/ this thread I should start. If this thread is inappropriate feel free to delete it.

I'm Sorry, but no Arizona Motorsports can be able ot make this list.. they are all crooks.

Thats actually not too bad for an Arizona motorsports dealer for an R1. That's actually probably about the same as what I would have paid, Honda East offered the 3 year warranty for like $400 bucks or something.

AZIROC: Did you get your bike from Honda East?

If no one could tell by now I'm a big fan of Honda East, easiest/best sale I think I have ever dealt with.

*Never mind, I thought your post said you got an 06 R1 for $11.5k OTD, but I see now you said R6, so yes they are all crooks.

you cant bargain on a new R6 much as they will just say F you, and sell it to the next person to come into the door

I would have to agree.. I have nothing but horror stories about these guy's
corporate car dealers and bikes don't mix
I go to North Valley as they support racing and are family run
I could get stuff way cheaper thru industry friends in CA but I would rather support a good local shop
If I was really squeezed for dough (but then I wouldn't be buyin a new bike)
I would do the cattle call to the small mom and pop shops in small towns and make the drive
Just my humble opinon but it's worth it to me to support a good local dealer, and establish that relationship
support and resources are important
maybe it's an extra hundred bucks or so..
But worth it..

It goes with out saying to do the research and know the market
If you know the out the door price to expect before you go in
Things will be much smoother

No experience of my own, but your best bet is to check the blue book value of the bike brand new (www.kbb.com) and go based off that. I garentee thats around what the dealer paid for it.

Granted, you probably cant GET the blue book value of the bike (its a dealership, cut em SOME slack, they have to make money to) but it gives you a good starting point to argue based off that.

I picked up my 06 Kat at Town and Country for $6500 back in January. Took forever and made them give me gear as well. I think I did all right. But it was kind of a pain.

I just bought an '05 Hayabusa with 1k miles for $9,999 from Metro Motorsports, but they rope you into that service plan which costs $2500. Hope it's worth it. It's all stock right now but I've ordered some yoshi pipes and hope to get some Tobin seats and a fender eliminator.

Try these guys to start - www.otdcyclesports.com. next to the LA Airport.
They will give you the OTD price immediately over the internet.

Bought a new 2k6 CBR 600RR last winter, $3,500 less than T&C.
No dealer in town would match the price.

No hassle, bike was ready to go as promised, they sell a lot of bikes throught the internet sales dept.
Honda can not ship, you have to pick it up, the savings buys a lot of extras.
It is a CA bike, but that was not an issue for me.

I haven't had the fortune or misfortune of buying a new or used bike from a Arizona dealership. When i talked to the sales guy at MetroMotorsports he played fair with me, but nothing made it to paper because i ended up not getting a loan. Best bet is to walk in with a loan from somewhere else, bank or credit union I think. I'd never pay more than $700 for all the fees and taxes, and set up fees. That's how the dealership makes their money usually, that and off of doing the loan for you if you go through them.

+1 on an outside credit union - your rates will probably kick the ass of whatever they offer you

or just drop a stack of cash on the table and tell them take it or leave it.

If it's a reasonable offer they will almost always take it. How i got my Cherokee.

Also a bunch of people including David (diablito) got a great deal at Champion Honda. Apparently Tim Alber over there hooks people up. Several people mentioned his name over on gsxr.com last summer.

It always helps if u know someone as well. One of my good friends used to work at town and country, and a couple buddies got smoking deals there. I wouldn't ever buy from them but if u got the hook up it is usally all good.

The day I'd pay 10K for a new 600 is the day I have rocks for brains. Just my opinion.

Both sportbikes I've purchased were done so privately. Both were in excellent condition, low mileage, etc. I actually sold my first bike for more than I paid for it!

10k is reasonable only if you get a 3 year tire/maintence/warrenty and some gear or aftermarket.

I found out what the 1st owner of my bike had paid and i nearly shit myself when i heard it was 10500 OTD with 3 year maintence but in a state with no sales tax.

I got a good fair deal at AZSuperbike in Chandler across the street from Town and Fuck-me...
$4500 for my 00' R6 even took money off when I pointed out a small crack in the fairing!!!
That and I worked for Champion the same owners as Apache they always seemed fair to me and very upfront.

Oh and all Az motorsport group is of the DEVIL!!!!
Everytime I walk into one of those places I tell them exactly what I think of them!!!

I went to Tucson Cycle and Ski first and almost bought an '07 Gixxer 600 for about $10.8K otd. The bike's MSRP was $8800 or $8900. But they were jerking me around on the financing. I went to Eastside Cycle on 22nd and Swan. Got the 07 R6 (MSRP $9400). OTD came to $10.3. That's $500 less than the Gixxer would've been! They financed me with better interest, payments, and I only had to put $2k down (versus $4k at TC&S). Overall good experience. Friendly staff, smooth transaction, couldn't be happier.

look the point is.. if youre a jack ass and dont do your homework, youll get ripped off....

It took me four hours of dealing to get all the crap I did for my bike form T&C and I wouldnt recommend going back there but I walked out with lo-jack service plans gear.. for like 11 or 12... but I got everything....

My friend adam almost got sold his sv-650s for 9k...... before he called me.. at T&C and it again took us 4 hours together..... but he got new helmets and gloves and everything and service plans otd for like 6 or 7 maube it was 9k after all the crap... I hate my memory...

but the point is... if you can haggle and not get raped.. go to a dealer... if you cant handle it.. order online...

as far as mom and pop shops.. I only support vendors that are recommended by friends..

Roger used to race for T&C thats why i went there... but I think he hates them... (but they were the only ones who found me financing w/o ass raping interest) which is another thing to consider...

I'd rather not say what I paid for my 07 gsxr 750 for, but safe to say do not go to Town and Country.... I think almost everyone has a story about these f**kheads.

Yep, any metrosports place will def f you, if not you, then the next person. Not saying that Extreme Yamaha won't rape you either, BUT there are the best price you're gonna find for a new bike in the Phoenix area.
