New to R1

Started riding and racing Maico dirt bike many years ago, just got my 79 & 83 250's restored. Have a 98 Harley Wide glide, got it in 2000. Just got my Blue 06 R1 12/27/05 about 3500 miles ago, have done some mods to it. I thought my Maico 500 had power, my R1 is the shit. I don't drag my knee (yet), I don't ride over my head and hope all who ride from this site ride the same. Riding is meant to be fun not a light to light or corner to corner sprint. I hope to meet many of you.

Can't go sunday, have to take son our for his second maico 250 ride. You should come by and see my R1 since some mods and see my dirt bike I just got back from CA, totally restored. I want to hook up with one of these ride on Fryday or Saturday nights. Can't go tonite I get off late and my R1 is dirty. Sunday the 24th Lee/son is going to Cards game I should be free to play. Did you go through Scott Johnson there? I think it was probably the best buying experience I have ever had.

Yes. And it was the best buying experience ever. I called just about every dealer from San Jose to New York City and all I got was bullshit. A guy at work suggested Honda East. I called looking for an 05 R1 to save money. Asked Scott if he had an 05 R1 and he said no, "would you be interested in an 06" I said I don't think I can afford it. He said $9644, I about shit. Everyone I had talked to for the past 2 days started at $10,500 or $11,500, for an 05 R1. I got the bike for $10,137 delivered to PHX. I added the 5 year warranty because I had never owned a crotch rocket and was not sure of the care needed.

Anyway Yes it was Scott and I agree "probably the best buying experience ever"

hmm, they must have raised the prices it used to be $9560.50. lol, but still a better deal then you can really find anywhere. But yeah, looks like you were in the same boat as me, the dealer up in Flagstaff had a new 05, exact same bike I wanted and the dude told me $14k OTD and NO NEGOTIATING because "everyone wants this bike". He actually told me to look at an RR if I wanted to negotiate. I was like thanks dude, you could have at least said like $20k and let me talk you down so that way I would "feel" like I was getting a deal...B.S.
