Just wanted sum opinions bout stretching a bike, and what you guys thought. I heard that stretching your bike hurts handling around curves, and that for a long time if you got a wider tire like a 240 kit the tires sucked. I know not to long ago i read an artical on better tires for a 240 or 300 kit. I think 300 or the even bigger 360 kits for bikes are way to big. 240 isnt that bad, its wider then a stock tire but nothing crazy. Just wondered what people think about stretching a bike and a bigger tire kit, like the 240, 300, and 360. Also you now have the choice for most bikes on either having a standard swingarm or like ducati and a few other companies, the single sided swingarm, and is going single really worth the extra money? And is stretching bikes more of a West Coast or East Coast thing?...
from what i read in the last issue of supper street bike as long as your tire is 240 or lower there isnt really any hadnling loss

i saw a stretched out bike last week.. and i honestly thought it looked stupid, but he also stretched it way too far for my taste... i've seen some that dont look too bad.

i thought it was an east coast thing, done mostly for drag racing

It is more for drag racing so that it is more difficult to pull the front end up...for street riding, any length extension on the swing arm causes less/different handling ablilities...

i stretched mine 6 inches *ended up being more like 7 1/4* lowered the front 1 1/2" and the rear 2".
as far as eastcoast/westcoast.. its more of an east coast thing. not really cause of drag racing *well, stretching/lowering is for DR* BUT east coast did it cause the roads/jighways are usually just long straight lines.. so since turning was "pointless" they just lowered and stretched it.
as far as the tire thing.. 240's are still "ok" if u wanna do stock height/length riding *but THAT would look weird* but perelli FINALLY came out with a Z rated tire. and its actually a decent tire. haha. the 300+ kids are mostly show. u can drag race with them..but its alot of extra weight. u just gotta be careful when u look for a 240 swingarm..cause ALOT of companies just offset the tire.. so when u install it.. the tire looks like its hanging to must over to the left. i got a 200 tire waiting 2 b put on.. but i think its gonna be a REALLY tight fit.
as far as the SSW, they look cool, and take some weight off the bike. is it worth the 3k+.. thats ur choice.

I originally lowered my bike 2 1/2 inches.. which stretched it in a sense.. handling of it sucked! Not something I would ever do again to a normal everyday riding bike! A lot of women have to lower their bikes or at least did until 06 and then they started making them a little shorter.. lucky for me at 5'4" I can get most of my foot down on any bike now.

surprisingly... its corning isnt lost. but most people r still stuck on the whole 180 vs 190 issue, that they dont realize a 240 can corner the same, just more of a tire to turn. good thing is u got alot more tire to hook to the ground.

i found a company, "greggs customs" they are gonna build me a custom single sided swingarm. i can stretch up to 12" if i want, or keep it stock length and also make it for any size tire app. it's only gonna cost about 1800, and they powder coat it any color you want, it's like 100 extra for chrome or black chrome.

I dont think I'm down for the 300. the biggest i would prbly ever go would be 240. Most likely will keep stock size though. this is what it will look like except it will match my color scheme.

Pretty sure the turns will come up a lot faster and it will take you about an hour to turn that much tire..
track times didnt differ that much
