Alright guys and gals here are a few pointers as I see a lot of people riding with passenegers now. This is just from my own personal experience.

Before the ride
1. If the ride is unexpected, always give your helmet to the passenger, dont let her get onto the bike without it.
2. Advise them to wear boots or shoes, jeans, and some sort of jacket. Most passengers dont think this far the first time.
3. Tell them not to get onto the bike until you are ready for them to.

Tips for riding
1. When coming to a stop have the passenger put their hands on the tank so they dont slide into you.
2. When stopping have the passenger hold their lower body still by putting weight into the passeneger pegs.
3. When accelerating have the passenger lean forward on to you, you dont want the front coming up
4. When cornering tell the "do not make any sudden moves" remind them that it throws the balance of the bike off
5. When cornering tell them to sit straight up, do not lean way into the turn, and do not lean against the turn. This is for beginner passengers. As they get better they will learn how to take turns with their weight on the pags and such.
6. When riding keep their feet off the exhaust! It will met things
7. Tell them to hold on and have fun!

Just some advise to tell the passengers you ride with. It will make them more comfortable on the bike and it will save your nuts from hitting that tank

I second that, my helmet is my helmet. if u wana ride bad enough to risk your life, so be it.

That being said i hate riding with passengers, it takes away all of the fun of riding.

+1, I try to avoid riding with passengers, but if I do, they get the helmet.

As for leaning, I just tell people to lean with the bike, not more, not less. Bassically, sit upright in relation to the bike (not the ground). Considering that I dont corner very fast (or drive fast for that matter) it works well.

I don't agree you are in control of that bike so say (heard of it happening) something flies up and hits you in the face you go down she is saved but you are in the hospital for a LONG time or worse death to the rider! You are the operater your safety is first something I have learned from the military so you get caught in a chemical battle your friend is hurt in the process you put YOUR mask on first then help your battle buddy just the way it is in my eyes. You aren't forcing her on that bike it is her choice I be like hey you can ride but I don't have a lid for you, your choice!

how about this for an idea: Don't take a passenger if you don't have 2 helmets. 1 way or another it's not safe and isn't even legal in most other states.

it would need to be a near emergency for me to ride with a passenger and not have 2 helmets

Very good tips for riding with a passenger. Also guys/girls don't show off or feel the need for speed with a passenger on board. It's 5 times more difficult for them to hang on to the bike than it is for you.

I'll find a good post on what happens when the driver becomes a squid and the passenger has to bear the brunt. Remember also your insurance will NOT cover injuries to passengers or a possible lawsuit. I'd rather sound like a parent than see any of you lying in a hopital bed fighting for life.
