I have 75 sets of newly acquired takeoffs for sale, more than one hundred street-legal DOT tires and fifty Slicks, with photos:

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/batch%201/DSC03632Rack1.jpg

I'm asking $90 - $120 per set and $50 - $65 per single tire, depending on condition. Cash, PayPal, and Credit Card via PayPal are accepted.

The detailed inventory sheet is attached at the bottom of this post for easy download.

The condition of these tires ranges from fresh sets with less than 10 laps total on them to street-legal tires with remaining tread useful for street and stunt riding (~70% Center and ~40% Side).
Example:

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/Batch%201%20Inventory%20Photos/64R.jpg

The street-legal DOTs include mostly Pirelli Diablo SuperCorsas, some Dragon SuperCorsas, numerous Dunlop D209GP and D208GP, some Michelin Power Race, and a few Bridgestone BT-002R.

The Slicks are primarily Pirelli Diablo SuperBike Slicks, 120/70 17 fronts and 190/55 17 rears.

Buyers can purchase single tires: single Fronts and single Rears are available. You don't have to buy complete sets.

I personally hand-picked these 40 sets, some for my personal use. I currently have a set on my own track bike and I've done about 40 laps of Buttonwillow Raceway on them:

I am attaching a MS Excel spreadsheet with a detailed inventory, so click on the link at the bottom of this post to download it.

Once the spreadsheet is downloaded, open it and click on the last two columns (Left Photo and Right Photo) to view photos of individual tires, Left and Right sides. All tires are photographed except numbers 1 through 20. I'll have photos of those posted shortly.

Within the spreadsheet, move your cursor over the small red triangle in the upper right corner of some of the cells to view explanations of the data:

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/batch%201/CommentBox.jpg

Also, there is a legend on the second page to explain the inventory code. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the code and in no time you will be able to easily pick out the tires of your choice:

Dang it!

Hey, fellas, apologies for my late response. I'm actually at work right now (Philippines). Answering your requests is gonna take some coordination while I'm away.

I ask that you bear with me while I'm less than responsive.

Call and/or email so we can make an appointment. Phone calls to (623) 444-2565 reach me and/or my voicemail or my partner. If a human voice doesn't answer please leave a message with a number where I can call ya back and I WILL get back to you.

We can set up appointments from Monday because my partner is busy with events this weekend.

In the meantime, give the spreadsheet with links to tire photos a try. I figure it's more cumbersome than photos on a website, but let me know what you think. Eventually I'll set up a website after I get up to speed on HTML:banghead

Again, thank you for your patience.

How did the tires work out for you guys?

I picked up a set of the Pirelli SuperCorsas SC DOT's (I think thats what there called) but yeah, picked em up right before Arroyo put maybe 60-70 miles on them in the streets before Arroyo and they ran good all day up at Arroyo, the sides are shot, but seeing that I'm strapped for moola right now, I am going to continue to leave them on the bike and use for the street as they have plenty of tread left in middle, I will just have to be careful if I hit VMR or Yarnell up! I don't think the bike will see twisties till either a half day at Firebird or a two day at Arroyo. I'm addicted to track.

Here is an update on my activities:

Back in January I shipped out and mounted a set of takeoffs, Pirelli Dragon 120 front / 180 rear, on my street F4i here in the Philippines. I have been commuting between Manila and my place in Subic Bay, a 120 mile trip each way, over the past two months. Really racking up the miles and watching how the takeoffs wear.

The commute is a good mix: 80 miles of open highway (hi-speed cruise), 20 miles of congested urban highway (medium-speed cruise and maneuvering), and 20 miles of crowded urban surface street congestion (low-speed lane splitting).

I'm happy to say that I started with 80% center tread remaining, typical of my takeoffs, and I have since put 3,000 miles on the tires. The rear is squared off now with about 15% tread remaining in the center.

The result:

A set of DOT takeoffs will last about 4,000 miles rear and 7,000 miles, front for street use / commuting.

I apologize that I can't offer improved customer service with a polished website, nor can I be online regularly in Devil Riders . . .

Last Wednesday morning I had a bad mishap, 10:20 am, while traveling Subic to Manila on the C5 highway toward South Luzon Expressway on my motorcycle.

-----------------
Left upper leg (femur) is shattered into multiple pieces above the
knee.

I have no feeling or control in my left hand, arm and shoulder due to nerve injury.

---------------------

A scooter pulled out perpendicular to traffic, trying to cross all
three travel lanes from the right side, saw me approaching, then
froze in the middle of the highway. I assesss then try to avoid him
by steering hard to the right. He is now stoppped on the road, across
the travel lanes, blocking the center lane.

My swerve isn't enough, and the left side of my body and motorcycle
impact the rear of his scooter.

The collision knocks me off my motorcycle and I come to rest at the
roadside.

Bystanders tug at my helmet despite my efforts telling them not to
move me. Ambulance comes.

In short, I'm able to contact Stockinger Family and locate to Makati
Medical Center, Room 921, where I'm undergoing treatment. Monday was
my first day with internet, and I'm posting this now.

-------------------------

Now, My left thigh is stabilized. 3 leg surgeries lasting 16 hours
total have been completed to this point.

Scooter rider was able to ride away from accident. 2 days later he
files a report.

Friday afternoon a lone police officer comes to my hospital room.
officer is alone and very nervous. I reach out to comfort him, ask
him to relax and do his job.

He asks me what happened and I give a full description. However I
notice he isn't taking any notes.

When I finish he says he is there to take my description of events:
NOT an official report, NOT an official statement.

In other words, this is a shakedown. he's probing for a way to get
money: from me thru worry tactics in exchange for putting the report
in my favor, or from the other rider in exchange for placing the
report in his favor.

-- i realized this the next day when the painkillers were reduced and
my head was clearer --

Finished with my description I ask him what he thinks. He fakes
surprise, tells me the other rider's description is different, the
other rider was surprised i hit him, and tells me the other rider
wants damages from me!

I ask him for the other rider's description and the officer shy's
away, hiding the papers in his hand. Then he hurriedly and nervously
leaves the room.
---------------------------

Saturday, 9am, my cell phone rings. Voice says she is the wife of the
other rider. She demands that we talk. I respectfully tell
her, "ma'am, I wish you and your husband the best. Im having major
surgery in 3 hours. I will contact you when I am fit to talk. In the
meantime you have my information."

That's the last I have heard from them. Maybe they have realized it's
best for them to go quietly away. I plan to rigorously pursue the
issues this week on behalf of my health insurance which requires an
official accident report.

------------------

Yesterday I had a long and productive talk with MMC doctors and Dr
Ranjit of KLSMC. We have three more weeks to decide where to go for
arm treatment while the swelling goes down and we assess the nerve
injury. That's standard procedure.

Im bedridden / wheelchair bound for next six months while left thigh
bone fragments heal. Im done racing this season, will spend next six
months fighting for recovery so I can return to flying.

I can't work for the six months while my leg heals.

If my left arm does not recover from the nerve damage and paralysis then I will lose my pilot career. I need your help to build this because I will rely on it for income.

I'm not asking for charity, I already did the hard work last month

hand-picking each tire that I think my customers will value,

Hey man if all ya need help with is selling those tires I think we got ya covered. :) I know anytime someone is around DR asking about cheap tires your name is almost always the first mentioned.
Richie, I need more. Let me explain:

I'm in a hospital in Manila; no family here to take care of me.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04777.jpg

My left leg is shattered, my left arm is paralyzed, perhaps permanently.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04826.jpg

I have decent health benefits and disability, but sooner or later they will run out.

So I need to find ways to support myself NOW because very rainy days are likely ahead for me, and I ain't gonna sit on my ass asking for a handout, state support, or unemployment benefits as a burden to the "system" once my savings and assets are spent, sold, auctioned, or foreclosed.

Fighter pilot to airline pilot to ward of the state is NOT my desired career path, buddy.

I made a significant investment of time, resources, and fucking hard work
(you remember how I transformed my garage overnight back in December, right?)) to get the tires ready for sale, but they are of no use to me sitting unsold on the rack.

I need to sell tires quickly at the fairest price.

So, help a hardworking brotha stay off welfare and get everyone you can, here and from other forums, to come look at tires.

Again, I'm not asking for charity or tire purchases out of sympathy. I'm asking for help getting people to come see my tires and decide for themselves if they are a good value.

Nahmean?

UPDATE

I will travel to southern Florida, USA shortly to continue my treatment at University of Miami Spinal Institute.

http://www.themiamiproject.org/x18.xml

http://www.themiamiproject.org/Images/lplc/lplc.jpg

This decision was endorsed by Dr. Ranjit of KLSMC after full consultation. My mother and brother live an hour's drive from there so it will work out very well.

My leg is healing well

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04897.jpg

and I'm quickly regaining limited mobility.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04911.jpg

The strength of my right side was unaffected by the accident, and I'm building even more strength there to compensate for left side injuries.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04912.jpg
http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04962.jpg

I can walk short distances with a crutch. I stood and went pee the other day, too! (Sorry. no photo available).

I even took an ambulance ride last week Saturday to visit partners in a business project I launched 4 months ago.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04921.jpg
http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04919.jpg

No complaint was filed by the other rider. I will retrieve my Honda F4i from the police station shortly. I will not divert any energy toward pursuing the other rider in Manila's cumbersome judicial system. Not worth the effort required. The other rider is a Bangledeshi national of meager means and without proper visa. Pursuing him would only increase his suffering rather than reduce mine.

My Protective Gear

First, let me say this:

ALWAYS WEAR YOUR RIDING GEAR, NO MATTER HOW SHORT THE TRIP

Overall, I am very pleased with the protective performance of my riding gear. I suffered NO direct Skin-to-Asphalt abrasion, and my skin survived the ordeal intact with only minor abrasions from the protective gear against my skin at impact.

Kevlar-reinforced Draggin' riding jeans

http://www.dragginjeans.com.au/products/jeans/regular.htm

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/draggin2.jpg

protected as advertised and did NOT wear through in the accident.

The Shoei X-11 helmet protected my head in the impact and fall.

The Alpinestars boots, an older model but similar to these

http://www.alpinestars.com/store/ProductImages/details/251507_large.jpg

protected my left foot during the impact very well. I had a minor dislocation of the 2nd toe, and my big toe experienced some impact trauma which would have been far worse had I been wearing regular street shoes.

The Icon Asphalt jacket did its job. It’s similar to the current Icon Merc model:

http://www.rideicon.com/product_details.jsp?category=1237&id=6412 (http://www.rideicon.com/product_details.jsp?category=1237&id=6412)

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/IconJacket.jpg

It did not wear through in the accident.

My gloves were a simple riding model, mesh and leather with knuckle reinforcement. My hands came out relatively unscathed.

Complete riding gear is not cheap, but it is a wise investment in personal protection. Purchase and wear protective gear when riding.

Update from my mom:

Hi, Family,

Kelly was commuting via motorcycle from Subic Bay to Manila for a meeting when a young man on a motorscooter tried to dash across the highway from a dirt path. There was a collision and Kelly was struck by the scooter and thrown from his bike. He suffered a compound fracture of his left femur which was shattered into several pieces. His left brachial nerve plexus was torn. Over the next month, Kelly had several surgeries in Manila to repair his leg. He has pins passing through his leg that are attached to a steel fixator - a lattice-like cylinder that encircles his lower thigh. He cannot bend his knee or bear weight on the leg until the pins and the fixator are removed in 6 months.

I arranged to have Kelly flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami last Tuesday where the chief of the Spinal Institute neurosurgery department evaluated his nerve injuries. Itʼs likely that Kelly will recover some function of his upper arm but the outlook for regaining any movement or sensation in his hand is not good.

Kellyʼs left arm is completely paralyzed so he cannot use a pair of crutches - although he can travel several yards using only one crutch with his good arm. Neurosurgery will check him in 3 months to see if any of the nerve roots have regenerated, in which case they may consider surgery to try to reattach the nerves to the spinal cord. The injured nerves produce constant severe pain. Narcotics are useless against neurogenic pain. Instead, heʼs taking Lyrica, a drug used to treat epilepsy. That helps a little.

Kelly is handling all of this like a soldier. Kellyʼs military training in survival and withstanding torture is serving him well; heʼs dealing with constant pulses of pain and without the use of one arm and one leg. Still he gets out of bed every morning and dresses himself in underwear, shorts and shirt (takes about an hour). I hooked up a homemade shower in my garage so he can sit on the portable commode chair and bathe himself with his one good arm. I wash his good arm and his back. I told him that the last time I bathed him, he was considerably smaller. He will live with me at least until heʼs able to walk again.

Kelly does not complain. His flying career is over. He knows that. He and LeBeau are already working on his next project. It is so sad to see him like this. Iʼm sure, though, that if anyone can overcome such challenges, Kelly can.

I know youʼre all pulling for him.

Mom / Ethelene / Lennie

The collision happened at about 70 km/h.

This was Wednesday morning following the Round 2 race weekend at Sepang where I had finished 6th overall:

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/Sepang/MSS2008%20Rd%202/0016.jpg

My Reconstruction of the Collision

The investigating officer's pictures of the accident included a view of the scooter from the rear picturing the rear subframe, the portion holding the passenger seat and grab bar. It was damaged and deformed, deflected from left to right when viewed from the rear of the scooter. The rear tire and wheel are undamaged and intact. The exhaust, which is mounted on the right side of the scooter, is undamaged.

These damage patterns indicate the scooter was facing ACROSS the road at the time of impact, as if the scooter rider was crossing the road perpendicular to the direction of traffic flow.

The damage patterns do NOT indicate the scooter was hit from behind or sideswiped.

Why?

1. The rear subframe of the scooter is deflected sideways.

2. The rear wheel is undamaged, indicating it was not a rear end collision.

3. The right side exhaust is undamaged, indicating it was not a sideswipe collision.

phantom
07-15-2008, 01:15 AM
A responding police officer made a sketch of the accident scene, including where the vehicles and bodies came to rest.

The scooter lay in the middle of the road, on its right side, across the traffic lanes. The scooter rider was next to the scooter.

My body was meters down the road at the roadside, and the motorcycle was further than that, in a drainage ditch.

The proximity of the scooter rider to his scooter indicates he was at rest or traveling very slowly.

The locations of my body and motorcycle indicate I was traveling at highway speed.

More Detail, Impact Analysis

The impact started at the left front of my bike. The scooter grab bar struck at the left headlight.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04995Diagram.jpg

As my bike continued on its path the scooter rear subframe and grab bar collected the headlight assembly and upper fairing of my bike.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04995Zoom.jpg

The scooter frame cleared my left fork, leaving no impact marks on the tube, but the next big obstacle was the left frame spar.

phantom

Thanks, Aaron. Will do.

The frame spar was a major contact point, as illustrated by the puncture, tearing, and gouging of the hollow frame spar.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04990closeup.jpg

After tearing through the spar the next things in the line of impact are a bit more plastic fairing and then my left thigh. You can easily imagine this by looking at the photo and visualizing my seating position, left leg hugging the tank and frame:

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5/phntomf16/C5%20Accident/DSC04986impact.jpg

I feel fortunate the scooter struck my thigh above the knee, leaving my left knee relatively unharmed.

Had the impact been on the knee itself I can only imagine the injury, surgical reconstruction, and rehab nightmares I would have to face.
:(

I saw a scooter rider get run over by a pickup truck on T-bird road a couple weeks ago... he had his upper inner thigh impaled 4 inches by his own scooters center stand. don't ask me how he managed to do that but the fire crew used the jaws of life to cut the kickstand off the bike so they would not have to pull it out of his leg and cause more bleeding. An MMI student ran him over in his pick up, an accident.

If you plan on repairing the F4i and want aftermarket fiberglass or carbon fiber bodywork let me know, i'm local and we can probably fix the bike for you too if needed. PM me if your curious.

I was in Florida until March for treatment and recovery while staying with my mother. Also, I resumed work on an entertaiment center project started a year ago that I intend to turn into a business.

I'm strong enough to be on my own for weeks at a time so I returned to Phoenix in late February to do several demonstrations of my project and get some initial feedback. All indications and feedback have been extremely positive so I embarked on forming a company and taking the first steps toward production. I even received a provisional patent for the design.

Now, I will schedule what I hope to be the final surgery on my left leg which should allow me to walk without a cane. If successful then I will finally be self-sufficient and capable of moving full speed ahead with the entertainment center project, a new company, and a new career. This tire venture gave me a very valuable training opportunity to learn about and practice business while helping out my fellow motorcycling enthusiasts (you guys).

Let me say thanks a whole bunch for being very supportive. I have lost the use of my left arm, probably permanently, but I'm starting a new chapter.

If interested in the tires PLEASE GIVE A CALL, email, or send a text message because I'm on the forum and internet much less these days.

Thanks.

Holy cow, that's some serious crash damage to you and the bike!!! Glad you're well on your way to recovery. Do you think the FAA will grant you a medical provision, at least for GA PIC flight? I'm hoping to get started on my PPL soon (preferably rotary, but costs are VERY high for that right now), and as much as I LOVE to ride, I'm always worried about an accident that will ruin my ability to pass my medical, especially since I'm hoping to go commercial heli as well. Best of luck in that regard. Riding bikes is great, flyin's one heck of a lot better! :D

Anyhow, glad I found this thread. I've probably got another 1,000 or so left in my tires, but will definately keep you in mind when the time comes to replace them! Get well soon, and hope to see you on the road and in the skies sooner rather than later!

Hey dude glad to see you're still alive and kicking!

1) How did that ankle heal up?
Everything is all healed up just fine. I'm returning to normal life.

2) You racing again yet?
No more motorcycling for me (one arm). I sold my bikes and trailer a year ago. Now I am involved with coaching and instructing auto racing and aviation, often using simulators of my own design:

I still live in the same place.

4) How much for rears?
I'm all out of rears. I only have fronts. Get a rear then come see me for a good quality front at a very low price. Even if you don't need tires today, you should come by and get a front for $20, then hold onto it until it is needed.

5) Got any spare/cheap sets of warmers lying around?
I sold my tire warmers with the race Gixxer 1000

A lot of us have started to hit the track in the last couple years, so you might actually sell more of these now.

I'm happy to hear that Devil Riders are progressing in skill and involvement! That's great news!

The tire venture was a valuable learning experience. I got to help out fellow riders while learning about running a small venture. The rear tires sell far more quickly than the fronts, leaving me with only fronts in inventory presently. Check 'em out!!
