Hey guys I'm having trouble posting on the forum with safari 3 on my mac. After I type my post up I hit post, and it deletes my text and gives me an error saying i need to enter text to make a post. I can post using firefox, but thats not my main browser so its a pain in the ass to switch back and forth. Any ideas/ suggestions on why I should do, short of just using Firefox?

i need to invest in a mac, at the very least so i can debug my web development on safari and in the apple os

my first thought, is... are you using quick reply? try hitting 'go advanced' and reply from there

I've used both and both give me the same result. And yes I love my new mac got it in Sept and its a little beast. Plus if I want/need to run windows I just reboot and I can start in window :) best of both worlds.

somehow i missed this, but apparently there's a safari for windows beta

http://www.apple.com/safari/download/

i'm installing it now, though i wouldn't be surprised to see the different os versions behaving differently

Ya I like the more formal look of Safari vs Firefox, even though they have a ton of similar features, but I use the Safari beta on the windows part of my computer. I havent visited the site here on it so I'm not sure how they will react, but i do know that the windows vesrion handles yahoo mail differently, so that might be a clue.

I have run Mac for the last 10 years exclusively and have no issues using vB.

The current version of Safari is 3.0.4, make sure you are up to date and you should be fine.

Also what OS are you running and what computer is it on?

Hey Birdman this is the first time I've had any trouble, but Im running 10.5.1 on a 20" iMac 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo and I'm on Safari 3.0.4. I'll check and see if I have anything checked wrong on the forum settings but idk whats up.

EDIT: WTF haha now it works. I switched my board options from Advanced to Standard.

I just like the more professional feel of safari vs firefox, and safari is actually more secure than FF and like R sic said, im on a mac so im really not worried about virus'

safari + mac = not really more secure, but just less likely to be targeted by virus creators...

we all have our preferences.. and again, problem has been solved (more or less, anyway)

Bastard hahaha, you now you want to come to the darkside, and schlizzag is partially right, the structure of osx (unix based) is much tougher to crack and exploit vs windows and other NT based operating systems. Plus mac are still flying under the radar for he most part since they are still only like 15% of the computing world.

But we are on the rise :) 16% here we come.

well I have never had that issue and right now my Hd is running at 110 and my cpu is running at 97, in fact the hottest thing on my mac right now is my gpu at 119 ;)

Edit: We should probably stop before it turns into a flamewar.
