Honestly I cant beleive firebird is charging so much for a single track day rental considering what they have to offer. The tracks are torn up as hell and need some major work. They tracks dont even have a Hot Pit, let alone something that could pass as a pit area... just kinda frustrating when you look at what they charge...
Heres a comparison: Firebird (east, west, or main) compared to Mid Ohio
Biggest factor: Cost
-Cost for one full trackday at Firebird:$185
-Cost for one full trackday at Mid Ohio: $195
Thats a $10 difference that seperates a local track vs. a national track.
Track conditions:
-Firebird needs to be repaved in many areas
-Mid Ohio just got repaved in many areas recently
Now heres some pictures:
Track setup at Mid Ohio with quite a bit of elevation change:

And some of Mid Ohio:
Is that a new surface? No way...

WOW real cars run here!

and would you look at that! They host national AMA events

Now you tell me, what makes Firebird so great that they charge $10 less for a trackday at Firebird then at Mid Ohio?
wait a second i thought this thread was about food

I agree... it's insane. But I am sure with our dry temps and high heat they have alot of maintenance to do.. or they are just greedy bastards!!!

Exactly I'm cool with the Firebird TD's unless I ever get to Corner Work! Doubt that's happening with whats going on there.

You are right, the prices they ae charging the two trackday organizations to rent the track is Ludacris. It is not entirely Firebirds fault though, it may well be that the Gila River Indian reservation are the greedy ones and they may have upped the lease on the land so they may have their hands tied. I think that the Gila river tribe is trying to get rid of the track because the land could be more lucrative as a business park or something else of that nature. (This is just my opinion and not fact)

if you plan it right, a 2-day at arroyo, will probly cost maybe 300 per person, i think its 160 for 2 days, get an suv that seats 5 comfortably make sure everyone is riding and chipping in on gas, food can be real cheap if you want it to be. i spent more to go to arroy then what it would have cost to go to firebird, but definitely one helluva experience. we camped, thats always fun. we drank, thats always fun, we all had a good time. it was nice to camp there with like 20 people. i mean, who wants to camp at firebird?? not me.

Simple economics actually, supply and demand.
Yea, even if they paved the Firebird tracks, they are flat as all get out.
It really sucks we have no good options here in the valley, REALLY SUCKS.

oh i dont expect elevation changes in AZ but for the price we pay and the money they take in, I would expect some pavement that can somehow be seen as a race track, not a parking lot

i wouldn't camp at firebird, i live here and would much rather sleep in my bed. do they have a track at PIR?

Yes they do have a track at PIR but it is way expensive to rent and it is not all that safe for motorcycles because of all the cement walls

It was open shortly sometime ago, they weren't obiding by the noise restrictions and homeowners complained, now they are trying to iron out the issues. You know whats silly is that the damn Air Force planes fly over there daily all times of day!
