I remember someone brought it up the other day when we were doing the canned food thing. Here are a couple links for The Dragon, back in the Tennessee/North Carolina (Deals Gap) area:

11 miles. 318 curves.
So, who wants to go? :deathmetal

I've been up there a couple of times at night, and neither time had much fun on the ride. Maybe it's just because I'm inexperienced, but dirt on the road freaks me out.

south mnt is just a relaxing ride, you really dont want to push your luck on that ride. you never know if there is sand on the next corner, plus the police there dont like it when bikes race up and down the road.

u sound like me. the last time i did south mountain, it was a death wish. the roads were shitty and sand/rocks everythere. but naw man, now.. they r totally smooth/repathed and of all the times ive gone so far, only 2 spots had just alittle bit of sand, but nothen that SHOULD cause u to crash (ass end may kick out alittle though).

Was there yesterday, it look okay to me, few rocks here and ther, and very small amounts of sand. I love that little ride, but skull is right, you don't want to push your luck there...

i used to go on the annual r6messagenet deals gap trips, then i moved out here. there's nothing like it that i have experienced. it is ridiculously tiring. when you reach the overlook (turn-around point) the first time, you think"that was AWESOME" but after the 10th time up, you think "Man now i have to go back down!". there are also a lot more roads in that area, one of the best being the cherahola skyway (us hwy 143). talk about insane, 43 miles of 100mph knee dragging , long sweeping turns. it's kinda scary though knowing that if you fuck up you are prolly going off the side of a mountain. my sig pic is actually that last time i went. i might ride out there next summer if my wife will let me! maybe i'll just trailer, that's a long way
