How much do you all think a 2002 R6 w/ 11k miles is worth? (Two-bros full system) May need some minor things like new tires, big maybe on a new chain, and thats about it. Er, how much would you pay?

here are a couple of listed values that i found

NADA $4672 high retail
NADA Report (http://www.nadaguides.com/Values/ValueReport.asp?UserID=fe1d71db-8359-4bb6-a3b9-f2fe9930f570&DID=39080&Type=MC&GCode=MC&wPg=1107&wSec=3&Letter=Y&Com=0282&Year=2002&Model=1200014495)

Kelly Blue book $5180 as a retail so it's probably a higher price then you should ask(doesn't offer private party) and that doesn't factor in exhaust and figures on 17k miles

As for what i would say would be maybe start around $5000-5200 asking and get around $4500-4800 if it's in good condition. I got my 05 gixxer last summer with 3500miles and some little aftermarket, 2 sets of gloves, and service plan for $6400 but that was OR where the prices tend to be a bit lower.

without pics, tire condition/type and a full list of aftermarket it would be hard to tell. Also if your throwing in gear it can help off set some price.

Service records and receipts for stuff also help especially for the buyers insurance stuff

So I just spoke w/ my friend and he said he would sell to me for $3600. I guess it has Qualifiers w/ less then 500 miles on them and a new chain too. I'm not going to bother asking for gear because I know there is no way in hell his gear will fit on me, I only have like 80 pounds on him. And this does include the 2-bros full system too.

oh i thought you were selling.

Sounds like a decent price but Qualifiers aren't great tires plus the bike is carb so you may need to ask about things like when the cars were last cleaned/serviced/sinked. I would save some money and go with an injected bike but the price doesn't seem too bad.

Has the bike been down? Good condition? Other aftermarket like sliders?

Also the big issue is do you but from a friend? Personally i have seen that get ugly before and i usually avoid it.

Id have to agree with the friend thing. Especially with something as finiky as a bike. If you know everything up front and wont hold him accountable for things that go wrong then your fine. But if you buy and find out its trashed or needs some major work then it could get ugly. just my .02

check the battery and swingarm!!!! '02 R6's had a HUGE battery leakage problem. Yamaha didnt want to do a recall on them yet they knew about it. makes ure the battery box isnt covered in acid and check the swingarm to make sure acid didnt get all over it too. (the new zx10Rs r having this same issue)

BUT 3600 sounds good. try for 3500, see what he says. if the battery / swingarm is fine, go for it. i loved my 02 R6.

Are Qualifiers really bad? I thought this was supposidly the new tire that I was hearing all this hype about. Never tried them though, always used PIlot Powers. I actually plan to make this a track bike, so I don't really want to keep buying something newer/nicer just to get things like fuel injection because next thing I know I'm going to be back up to 5k+. (Although buying this bike would kind of contradict my oath I took to never buy another carbuerated bike again. Bike's never been majorly down, I think he mentioned the previous owner let it fall over in the parking lot or some like that. I'm still kind of debating the friend issue though, I know I'm good about that kind of stuff and knowing that I"m buying a used bike and to expect wear and tear and not everything to be perfect, otherwise if I want everything perfect I would have to buy a new one, but then I wouldn't want to use it on the track. I guess I'll take a good hard look at it before I make any committment.
