Lock your bikes up. My buddies bike got stolen last year the one night he didnt have a lock on it. I think we are pretty safe on campus but i plan to use a disc lock there as long as it isnt late at night. My bike will be in a carport this year so im in the process of coming up with a plan to lock it. Alone a lock will deter theifs but a good lock will make them move on. If your lock touches the ground it just give a theif something to hit it on (ex. use a sludge to bust it because the ground acts as a solid surface). Keep the lock in the air somehow. Also do not put it around your wheels, but put it through your frame as wheels can be removed...

Shoot last year a month befor ei moved back from Alaska my bike got jacked out of my Apt. parking lot. The one night i got lazy and didnt block it in with my car, they stole it, and the other kid in the apt got his kicked over. I did find it 2 days later chillin on a trailer only minor rash so i was lucky.

I would say if you can block it in somehow, or get an alarm and a personal bike body guard to kill anyone who looks at it funny would be my best bets.....

If you pay me enough i may guard it with my 12 guage, staggered with double ott buck and slugs!!!!

I would HIGHLY recomend getting a alarm, I've heard the Vipers are good. Keep in mind, that if they steal it its most likely going to be like 3 guys that just pick up the bike and load it into a van or something.

Alarm + chain + blocked in somehow == slighly less appealing to a theif. Slightly.

i have also heard great things of the Scorpio alarm systems about easy of install and the vibration remote.

But right now i can't afford it. i am looking at this lock though https://secure.kneedraggers.com/details/OnGuard_Rottweiler_Armored_Lock--66-OG-5.html in the 30mm 7.5ft version

Lojack

is shitty, not worth it at all. By the time the police try to track it, it will be under a roof or in a building in which lojack wont work. As for alarms they only work good if the bike is locked also. Alarm wires arnt hard to cut so if you do put the entire alarm out of way of clippers... dont hook it up to the horn...

A specific motorcycle alarm SHOULD have a mercury switch for how it leans. You put the bike on its kickstand lock it up and click the alarm on, if the bike moves a certain ammount from where you first turned the alarm on, said alarm goes off.

 of course Jerry. you know best.

anyway... LoJack worked great for me and for the people I know who have it. average recovery in about an hour.

Your right it does work good on cars, because it is easy to hide. On bikes it can easily be found and sanded off. I base my statements off those who had their bikes stolen with the lojack recovery system. And yes i woud get it for my car but wouldnt waste the money and put it on my bike

I use a cheap eBay bought alarm that works great $45., a couple cable locks. The bike is locked to my carpart.

I'm working on a new bike security system: an infrared camera targeting system linked to two M-60 machine guns lol.

We can thank the police for busting that father-son duo who were stealing sportbikes several months back and prior. They got caught with $250,000 worth of sportbikes in their posession.

yea they had 40 or so bikes... and that was right after one of my buddies bikes was stolen, it was probably part of the collection
