Yarnell Hill and Jerome are two of the best places in the area for twisty roads and great views. This day trip takes us through both.

Be sure and watch your speeds going into Yarnell, however. Police often patrol the area. Not that you'd ever go over the speed limit, of course.

The roads themselves require your utmost attention. Please be sure to ride with a friend or group, and have a working cell phone in case anything goes awry.

All 3 of these rides are in my back yard. White Spars and Mingus are IMO the 2 most technical rides in AZ. LOTS of tight turns, w/ decreasing and double radius, blind apex, and uneven road to trip you up. Not to mention the ever present "Wrong Way Winebago" just around the next turn. PLEASE be careful if you ride out here, bring a buddy, and call me, cause Im always down.

Totally agree!!! even experienced riders who have never been there need to take it slow! I've seen it too many times...

I loved the ride through Yarnell, even though it bit me on the way down.... I had sooo much fun riding that day. I would do it again, just take it really slow on the way down.

Dude, you have my number. Hit me up!

Yeah, I love that ride... Take it slow on the way down, scan for cops below you. Flip a bitch at the bottom and rail it the whole way up. 100+ in 30mph turns, LONG sweeping turns you can settle into, two lanes so you can pass the cagers, and a diner at the top to cool off in.

its like his 15th one haha 3 court days this month for different tickets. The cop was following us around 11:30 at night for a while just didnt know it was a cop i was in the back of the triangle (3 of us) and the cop turned on his lights. We didnt even slow down for a good 30 seconds i was waiting for him to take off so i can bite the bullet so i started to pull over and he goes right past me and gets brandon. Me and the other guy took off

Hit up Yarnell yesterday with some friends on the way upto Prescott. Haven't gone on that road in a while. A little chilly, but well worth it. Friends first time out there, and he's in love as well. Probably going again in 2 weeks (Sunday) with some other friends. Always good times there. Not one cop.

I didn't want to go all the way up to Prescott! It snows in Yarnell, I hope not! Does the road get icy on the Hill? I just wanted to do VMR and YHB (yarnell hill boyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy) and leave later than normal as its been freezing super early in the morning! Like 9ish to make up there for Brunch! I gotta work at 3:30 on Sunday, so have to be back!

Yea the weather does not like good for that area on Saturday or Sunday. Looks like VMR should be fine but not sure what you going to get if you go farther north

Good looking out! I'll kick back here in the Valley for the weekend! Need some rest anyways! Maybe find another ride to go where no rain! Thanks again Kevin! At least someone is using their head, everytime I go up there, I never look at the Weather, just assume its AZ no worries! As you go North, though, different story!

i think she has, any respectable seamstress or leathersmith or whatever you want to call them probly would have taken maybe 4 days instead of 2 to get it done. you're gonna get it back with some gay pride patches to cover up the accidental holes she made! lol! and probly be a different color red in some spots!

yeah, and update them with bigger more gayer ones, probly with dolphins jumping over belly buttons.

Wow, so nobody's posted here in a while. Guess I'm 'bout to change that, eh?

Anywho, a cousin of mine owns two Yamaha VTX1300's that he's got up in Prescott/Camp Verde at his folk's place. He's trying to sell them, so he wants to bring them down here today, so he and I will be doing the ride, either via Yarnell or the I-17.

Now, understand that cruisers just aren't really my thing. I'm a sportbike guy through and through (alright, naked/standard bikess like the Z1000, FZ1, etc are easily acceptable). However, I'm not going to turn down a good ride, even if it was a Harley! :41:

SO, my question is this. How does the ride from Prescott down to the Phoenix valley (via Yarnell, etc) compare to TTF? I tend to take things pretty darn easy my first time through on a new route anyway, but just an idea in my mind of how it compares to TTF would perhaps help me picture what it is we're getting ourselves into. :) If we decide to go this route, it won't be NEARLY as fun on cruisers as it would be on sportbikes, but I'll take what I can get. Thoughts and ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

totally my opinion/observation.
TTF is more quick sharp corners. Yarnell is long sharp corners that have hidden cops above you and timing you. Yarnell is my favorite, also if you continue up to yarnell, you'll hit white spars, and this route is pretty similar to TTF.
hope that helps :)
