Tortilla Flat. Tortilla Flats. TTF. Excited yet? You should be. Whatever you call it, this route is full of great twisties and breathtaking scenery. Just be careful and try not to go it alone. One false move and you'll go over a big drop!

Near the end of the pavement, you can stop by the restaurant and grab a burger (http://www.tortillaflataz.com/index.html).

Just plan accordingly. There may be a lot of traffic for the lake, and getting stuck behind a truck with a boat might ruin the fun. If you can make it out on a weekday, that’s your best bet for a great ride.

one of the best rides I have been on here in AZ. Love it.

prolly the most dangerous.. I know 3 riders who crashed out there and one who died... and I dont even know that many people.. so be careful.. its usually caused by an oversized boat/truck/trailer taking up 2 lanes around a bend.

i love this ride it is probably my favorite place to ride within 50 miles of my house. biggest things i could say is 1. weekends kinda blow. there is a ton of traffic. go during the week if possible. and 2. most important. dont go balls out your 1st time. lot of corners that look like they are goin left and go right at the last sec.

actually if you look my friend that's recording the video is on my ass. I'm sure there are quite a few guys that would smoke me through the flats. South mountain is fun but there always seems to me alot of sand on the roads. I don't get out to the flats much cause last october i got pulled over for standing on my seat and wheeling down University (not smart I know) I lost my license and the most ridding i get is when i go to the car wash on saturday's. That's why i push for getting race track for Track Day's.

not a fan of this place at all, taken it twice now and both times almost lost it around a hard left hander, it sand bad on the road. i cant stand all the trucks with boats that run off the road on some of the turns and get junk all over the road

Maybe we should put some money together and hire a big group of "you know who" off of mesa dr and broadway and take them to TTF to go sweep off the bitch for us. HAHA

I'm not a huge fan of TTF. I know I only did it once but the decreasing radius turns along with the sand and other crap and being right there on the edge of the cliff all the time.... It scared the crap out of me!

I think I gotta get into track. These twisties like TTF and Yarnell are scary places to die. As you can tell, I have a huge fear of dying.

you picked the wrong hobby for being afraid of death....personally i don't care. I'll be dead...should be quite the adventure...

A far bigger thing to fear is not having lived. (who said that shit?)

AMEN, brotha. If it's my time, it's my time, and it'll happen whether I wipe out on Yarnell or I get shot and carjacked downtown.

Just got back from riding TTF for the first time and it was very nice! Almost exactly 100 mi roundtrip from my doorstep until the paved road runs out and back. Much less gravel/sand than South Mountain (which is what I've been sticking to laterly purely out of convenience) and I like the higher speed corners. I'll be going back next weekend for sure...

Only bad part was the number of cagers on the road - I should really try and get off work early one day in the middle of the week. The ride up was great, every car I got stuck behind would let me pass at the nearest pull-off which is so rare. Unfortunately, I got stuck behind a line of about 11 SUV's on the way back. Fuckin miserable!

Starting now until a few weeks after Easter the weekdays are PACKED with Snowbirds headed to TTF.

If you go early you will be OK, but anytime after the restaurant opens you will run into a lot of slow traffic.

It actually has nothing to do with the lake. It has to do with that little town of Tortilla Flat as a tourist (trap) stop.

Kinda odd, I know but I was there on Monday of last week and it was normal and the very next day it started (snowbirds.)

The staff there knows me pretty well, and they were all joking..."There Back!!"

I tell folks this every year and it never fails that some do not believe me...they ride down and the next post is...."Something must have been going on today, you would never believe how many people were at TTF."

BTW, these were Tuesday at 11am.

Now, there are little to no boats on the road, which means that you has less issue of getting around them or having them come at you. BUT, beware that those vehicle brush a lot of the sand and larger rocks off of the road.

Those are starting to show up a little more in areas that usually don't have as much, so caution should still be observed.

If you have not been down to the lake lately you should go. It is down about 250 to 300 feet now.
