track day?

I think I have a general idea of what happens at Track Day, but I'd like a quick run down from some of you guys who've been to them...

Do you get time on the track to make a run by yourself? Are there classes to help you with cornering techniques etc? How are things run - do you get certain times early and wait around for your turn? Stuff like that..

they'll do some sighting laps in the beginning so you can figure out your lines, the track, etc... all of the ones I have been to had mandatory class room sessions for novice riders, and all the instructors have always seemed pretty friendly and willing to help if you ask for it. In my case, since I'm not very good, there are a lot of more experienced people that are willing to give advice/help too. As w/ anything though, I just love the people who have a little experience and seem to claim to be "experts" on riding and act like they know everything, cause it always seems like there are a few of those out there. I by no means claim to be an expert, but in general its just one of those things that you can just tell who knows their sh*t and who acts like they know their sh*t.
