LOL, but seeing as how I do not have leathers, a teather or anything, it would be pointless for me to run.
357Magnum
02-13-2007, 11:17 PM
does that jerry rigged(no pun intended) teather work at firebird?
Blue Devil
02-13-2007, 11:41 PM

Jerry wins 7:1....
Spread is .07 seconds
I'll call vegas to set up the line :)

considering my last run was a 12flat and jerrys best was like an 11.3 or something i'd say put ur money on him lol
i figured out that i was shifting about 2-2.5k rpms early though...shift light was coming on at 15k....

remember the redline on your bike isnt accurate... it wont go to the advertised 17.5 or whatever it was...redline on your bike is really like 16k.
Tadd the spread is .50 lol I wont accept a .70. Im making it so he has to improve as there is really only 2/10ths i can improve when he can really improve up to 1 second
FastDemonr1
02-14-2007, 09:14 PM
I don't know if I am going to run yet or not, a 600 can VERY easily beat me in the 1/8th mile since my bike is hard to launch, and I was VERY easy trap over 120... I don't know.

regardless, that would still make the tach inaccurate over the whole spread....so when i am seeing 15k it really isnt 15k..its more like 14k-ish.'
so either way, i am still shifting way early.

02-14-2007, 09:45 PM
No, your tach isn't THAT far off, it just doesn't go as high as advertised.
357Magnum
02-14-2007, 09:56 PM
yeah but if the tach is off because of a calculation error....would it be a little off throughout the whole band? it doesnt just hit a certain point and then is off.... but hell, what do i know lol
FastDemonr1
02-14-2007, 09:58 PM
No, your tach is off being that it doesn't rev as high as they stated, the rev limiter kicks in before then, if you want, you can order the "race" ecu from Yamaha for like 1100 bucks and get the advertised rev limit... You also get about 12 ponies from it as well.
357Magnum
02-14-2007, 10:03 PM
i thought the whole deal was that the engine didnt rev to 17.5 because of a calculation error...if it was just a simple case of the rev limiter coming on too early, a simple flash from yamaha would have fixed that...instead, didnt they offer to buy back bikes sold before a certain date....
also, the 2007 r6's redline is fixed to reflect the true redline with it being recalculated. i think it sits at like 16.8 or something now.
FastDemonr1
02-14-2007, 10:05 PM
Well then I guess I am the moron, I thought it was due to the rev limiter kicking in too early.... WTF do the tachs go up to 20k then? Just plain fuckin stupid, looks cool though to see 20 on a tachometer though.
357Magnum
02-14-2007, 10:07 PM
lol no morons here just friendly discussion ;) most tachs go above what the engine can actually rev too. even on cars. speedometers do also. my 03 Ranger shut off at 89mph but the speedo went to 130.

i actually had someone tell me at the dorms(who had heard me take off down the street, redlining first) that i needed to shift earlier because i took 1st gear out way to long. first, i asked if he rode, which he didnt, then i told him to stfu.
FastDemonr1
02-14-2007, 10:39 PM
LOL, I like when people on bikes ride the clutch out in 2nd gear, like they are taking off from a start, that always make me laugh.
Blue Devil
02-14-2007, 11:58 PM
they dont go as high as advertised because the power band drops off way before advertised. Take a look at a dyno chart. The line goes up and up then drops off after it stops making power. If the new tach has a redline of 16.8 then it stops making power just before that mark. The redline does not affect the rest of the tach. The tach is accurate, just they started the red dashes for the redline mark too late. Yea it could probably rev to the advertised amount but it is making less power then the peak therefor its just dangerous to do ask its more likely that something will let go.

Jerry, almost ALL bikes make peak HP before redline.. My R1 peaks at 12,200 RPMS at 184.2 HP and at 13.5k it made 160ish....

I understand that and I agree. My point was that the 06 r6 peaks way before the advertised redline. Most bikes hit peak like 500-1000rpm before redline, but the gap is way larger for the 06... thats why the redline mark is so much lower on the 07

Got ya, I personally don't like the new R6's, the powerband is almost useless anywhere besides the track. AWESOME track bike, shitty day to day bike IMO, some people love them though. 03-05 R6 has a great powerband.

yea i figured it would be nice for everyone to know where SRD is for the bikini wash. Tonight was awesome. I made 16 runs, 3 of which were against cars that i got to call out. Those were my last three as i was the only bike still running. Damn good night. Pulled some 1.83 60fts and my best time was a 11.21 @124.8. So i still have room for improvement. Cant wait to see all the pics and video Sarah took.

Everybody was geared up except the only asshole who really NEEDED to be, that asshole being myself of coarse, I didn't have full leathers so I couldn't go over 120mph..... The announcer was making fun of me... "I would like to see what that bike would run if he ran the FULL 1/4 mile." LOL

A. Didn't need to see Ritchie bending over in leather...i kinda puked a bit.
B. Who ran the best time?
FastDemonr1
02-19-2007, 09:58 PM
I did, I ran a 10.94 @ like 138 I think... That was with me being scurred to launch cause I don't feel like putting another clutch in... Out of the 600's Jerry had the best run of like 11.4???? @ like 124 I think.
Blue Devil
02-19-2007, 10:07 PM
11.21@124.8 1.83 60ft... that was after everyone quit on me so i hot lapped it. Seems as if my tires liked the hot lapping. I wanna see what i can do with a good tire and maybe strap the front end down. Anyone know how to strap them?
357Magnum
02-19-2007, 10:08 PM
I improved my best last time of 12.004 to 11.7. stil have a lot of room to improve on before I regear

Do you know if you have to have leather or can you have a leather jacket and textile pants.
I would like to make some runs just to see what i can do.
357Magnum
02-19-2007, 10:45 PM
full leather is required if running over 120mph. no textile. Firebird made Fastdemon change out of his textile jacket even when he was running under 120

02-19-2007, 11:05 PM
LOL, I got to run once though, that what was weird.... Thanks for the leathers!

dude honestly, I don't think we need them. Because the older guy, who actually seemed to know his shit, didnt pass mine. He asked me what size the engine the bike had and when i said 600, he said that I probably wouldnt be going fast enough to need one anyways so he let it pass.
FastDemonr1
02-20-2007, 12:34 AM
