Well I accomplished two of my goals for the season that seemed unrealistice to me and more this weekend.
First off I got my first podium, I got third place in the amateur Unlimited Supersport race beating out Jace Wilhelmi (Unlimited Supersport points champion) who is kind of my mentor in Roadracing. He had some technical issues but hell, thats racing I guess.
Second, all I wanted being a new racer was to get a 4th place and I out did myself by getting 3rd in my first race but hey I will take the 4th place finish I got in Unlimited Superbike.
Third, I beat Matt Dom ( overall amateur points champion) in Unlimited Gp! Matt is usually a lot faster than me and somehow I chased him down with 2 laps to go and he never got back around me.
Overall this is the most satisfied that I have been after a race weekend and I can't wait for next season when Zac King, Jace Wilhelmi and Matt Dom move up to expert so I can shoot for a podium every weekend.

Congrats man, I would love to race, but knowing how much it costs to race dirt I can only imagine that it costs more for street.

Ha ha. I didn't even realize that was you. I was focused on getting a buddies house to help him move.
And Stallion, I understand the racing passion. I did desert racing in high school and loved it. If I had the money to support racing I would be out on my 675 all the time.

Questions:
1. Do you get paid for podium places? How do racers earn money?
2. Do they have amature divisions / what does it take to get started?

You earn money through contingency from all of your aftermarket parts and tires. There is amateur and Expert classes. Once you have either two years race experience or gather more than a certain amount of points as an amateur. You have to take a race liscensing clinic to get your liscense and then you can race.
