I will be down in tempe, the 12th so if anyone wants to take me under there wing for the day I would love that. I rode dirt bikes before but havent driven a street bike, so if anyone wants to ride with me during the day that would be sweet. Took a Saftey riders corse and passed with flying colors. I just would like someone to ride with. I get in at 9:00 and will prolly have to bike out by 12:00, hopefully sooner!! Really want to get on the bike.

go to lot 59 at ASU. Dont go out on a main road or you will regret it. Spend the entire day on your bike to get used to it. It is much heavier and harder to handle then the bikes provided in the course.
-Get used to coming out of a turn and stopping quick
-get used to slow turns
-get used to starting and then turning (as you would at a red light to make a right)
-get used to quick stopping and find out exactly how much pressure you can put on the rear brake before it locks up...
-get used to down shifting and braking at the same time for quick stops
Do this all for a day and then hit the road later in the day after traffic when not a ton of cars are around. The last thing you want to do is jump on the bike and hit the road. These bikes ride much differently then dirt and there is no room for error like dirt bikes.
Keep it safe and keep the rubber side down. When im back in town and my bike is ill come ride with you

If your new to riding it isn't a good idea to ride with other people. Like Blue said - keep in a parking lot until you have the controls mastered. :) It will take 4 weeks of riding every day for 20 minutes in a parking lot before you should hit the streets. You'll thank us later :)

i might of said that, not sure. well i have had the bike for about 2 weeks now in arizona. I live in wisconsin and had one of my friends pick it up with my brother.
The bikes we used at the MSC was a buell blast, 500cc. I rode in a parking lot for about 16 hours on that bike. I know that I will go to a parking lot for a little bit and test the bike out, but then im definitly going on the rode. I have a road bike(one with pedals) and go on 55 mph roads with it, so im not scared about going on the roads with a motorcycle. I just have to get used to the bike for about an hour or 2.

Umm what kind of motorcycle were you riding that didn't have pedals?
And being on a street bike for a few hours the 1st day might be plenty before you start to get soem hand/arm fatigue just from the vibration and stuff. i know a lot of guys are switching to the motivation bar ends to remove some of the harmonics.

it was a road bike, like for compititions, ones that you have to pedal to make go. I was in a triatholon, and thats the kind of road i was on. Cars passing you at 55 mph when ur going about 20mph and they barley see you is kinda scary, but I got used to it.
Well I guess ill just ride by myself and get use to the bike for the few days. But if anyone is still up for riding with me at all next week, pm me.

Being on a bicycle is way different then being on a motorcycle on the roads. On a bicycle your handling a lot less weight, stops easier(no high sides), easier to see in the helmet then a full face, you can hear better, oh and you don't need as much space on the road, plus 20mph on a bicyle is not the same as going 45 in traffic

He will catch on soon like we all did. Just take it easy, its easier to go down then anyone thinks. Just hit the parking lot of a bit then go out on some roads that dont have that much traffic.
