I have been looking at that kit for a while but im not sure if i want to build the engine or build myself a supercharger kit.
You are much better off with a big bore than cams on your R1 the cams are pricey with minimal gains.

Did you get your jet kit yet?

Have fun buying race gas with a 13:1 compression..... At least I would run a gallon of 100 octane in it.

Ohh i am not getting it done.. I was just dreaming. The $630 would just be the tip of the iceburg.. That would be one expensive mod. Would be well worth it but would be pricey.

oh i was gonna say.. i while back i was looking to do a 1420 (or was it 1430???) kit, and the pistons were cheap... the crank was KINDA expensive, like $500 or something. but OMG, the labor to do that stuff.. i could get a turbo instead.

Exactly. I know people that can bore but once you start adding all the extra components it adds up. I would rather just get the stock sized JE piston kit for the added durability and then do what you recommended and turbo the bike. 220 hp would be fun :o

Part of the problem with yamaha is you have to have the cylinders recoated after you bore them. You can also just get the kit yamaha head gasket to bump up your compression a bit. It requires a lot less work since the 98-03 r1 have the cylinders as part of the crank case. The best way to make power with a turbo would actually be to go with low compression pistons so that you can run more boost and not detonate.

Yes i have spent way to much time dreaming up ways to build my bike. Now if only i had the money to do it.

I would but im afraid of bugs. I already have enough health isues to deal with. I can throw you on a corner and take 50% thow.
