damn taxes

Well just for this summer i have gotten just over $1600 taken out in taxes from working... this pisses me off. Only good part is ill get about 75% of them back in april, but i dont want to wait that long to blow it on my bike haha. Taxes just piss me off. If they are going to give over half of it back to me then why do they require so much of each pay check. Also the state of michigan can suck my balls because ill get like 2% of what they take out back.

yea 21 and making just under $10k a summer is nice. Once you make over 10K your screwed

Taxes... they do suck. Arizona is the same as MI i guess for state taxes and the way they withhold. Most times i end up owing AZ at the end of the year. I know in AZ you can tell your employer what percentage of state taxes you want withheld from your pay. I take 23% of my Federal withholdings from AZ state taxes... it should put me dead even in 2006, as i won't owe or won't get anything back either. Federal I claim 1 exemption and that puts me about even with them also. I've never had to pay Federal anything. I think if your a student you can claim 1 exemption for that too, but it's best to check with a tax expert. The more exemptions, obviously the more money you can keep in your pocket, so long as those exemptions are legit.

i usually take 35% out for fed and 27% out for state. kinda kills my paycheckss, but id rather have that nice refund to blow every year instead of "breaking even"

yea I agree. Its nice to get a decent check one week after my birthday.
